Jackalope Campfire, Tuesday Evening

It had been a long day at the Photo Hut.  During his first ever shift, John had actually managed to read a few pages of his book.  He thought that deserved some relaxation, so he sat poking the campfire with a stick, hoping to see some friendly faces.

Cassie was wandering again.

"Hey," she said in greeting.

"Hey to you too!" John liked meeting new people here.

"Don't think we've met before," Cassie said. "I'm Cassie."

"Nice to meet you Cassie, I'm John," he reached out to shake her hand.

Cassie shook his hand. "New student, I'm guessing?"

"That I am," John replied. "I take it you've been around Fandom for awhile?"

"Well, only a semester, so far," Cassie said. "But I should be here for a lot longer."

"Yeah, I'm hoping to stick around, too. Fandom's a cool place," John replied.

"Hope you're prepared for weirdness, then," Cassie said. "Cause we get that, too."

"Oh yeah, magic, talking reptiles, I think I can deal," It had been a long almost two weeks but John had managed to get used to almost everything.

"Oh, good," Cassie said. "I guess you're made for here, if you're dealing that well."

"Yeah, it's a pretty good fit. Did you find it very easy to get used to?"

[robotboyfetish]

"Given where I came from? Yeah," Cassie said. "It was easy."

"Oh? Where's that?" John wondered if it was one of the worlds he'd already heard of or not.

"New York. But a different universe."

[missed_the_gate]

"Aren't they all?" John smirked.
