2nd floor common room - Sunday afternoon

Apr 15, 2007 20:23

Cameron was quietly boggling at the little girl sitting beside him on the couch. At least he'd managed to take off his tuxedo from yesterday and after some major bargaining he had gotten Marybeth to agree to eat lunch on the condition that she got ice cream as dessert.

He had a lot to learn about parenting.

Stark had managed to avoid the weetinies thus far. So when he walked into the common room, he was surprised to see a small horde of children.

"Where did they come from this time?"

"First guess? Prom," Cameron quipped and made a mental note to ask Marybeth more questions when she was done playing.

Stark blinked. "That was...fast."

See, he'd known that prom thing wasn't a good idea.

"Yeah, so I'm probably wrong but I don't really have another explanation," Cameron said.

"They aren't from here and just small like the last time? Or the time before that?" Stark asked. "Then who are they?"

"Well," he pointed to Marybeth. "That one seems to think she's mine and she's looking a lot like my girlfriend too."

"Oh. Do you think she's right?"

So the island had been invaded by children who probably shouldn't exist yet. Typical weekend for Fandom, then.

"Well... she seems to know me and she's definitely acting like Veronica so... I hope so?" Yeah, he was surprised he'd just said that

Stark nodded. That made sense. "Should I be saying congratulations then?" Somehow, he'd never learned the etiquette for this sort of situation.

And that would be Cameron flailing. "I think it's a bit early to go that far."

Stark grinned. "Probably true."

Marybeth looked up at Stark with very wide eyes. "That's a really cool mask," she said. "Are you in disguise?"

"No. Not in disguise." Stark shook his head. "Wouldn't be a very good disguise. Too obvious. I always wear it."

"How come?" Marybeth asked. She may have inherited her mother's inquisitive nature, but hadn't quite learned tact yet.

"Have to," Stark said, crouching down a little to be closer to the girl's level. "That part of my face is, um, missing."

"I can find it!" Marybeth offered. "I'm a private 'vestigator, just like my mommy."
