2nd floor common room - Sunday afternoon

Apr 15, 2007 20:23

Cameron was quietly boggling at the little girl sitting beside him on the couch. At least he'd managed to take off his tuxedo from yesterday and after some major bargaining he had gotten Marybeth to agree to eat lunch on the condition that she got ice cream as dessert.

He had a lot to learn about parenting.

Marybeth was happily eating her ice cream and kicking her legs.

"Daddy? What is this place? Why aren't we at home?"

"It's Fandom," he replied, not sure how to explain that weirdness to a 5 year old. "We're uh... here because I have some stuff to do here." Very clear.

"This is where you met Mommy!" Marybeth said. "And Uncle Marty and Uncle Logan and Uncle Angel and... oh! Can we call Uncle Angel later? We haven't visited the Hyp... Hip... the hotel in forever!"

"Uh..." Cameron blinked. "I think we might want to wait until your mom has called," he said.

"Okay," Marybeth said, finishing her ice cream. She held out her empty bowl. "Can I have more?"

"One's enough," he shook his head and took the bowl from her to put it safely on the coffee table.

"Uh huh and you got a bowl of ice cream like we agreed," he pointed out, feeling all mature.

"But I'm still hungry," Marybeth said.

"How about an apple?" he suggested. "Apples are good."

That look on Marybeth's face was a perfect imitation of her mother's 'bitch, please' expression.

Cameron raised an eyebrow. "Okay, then no more food. How about we watch some cartoons?"

Marybeth was going to agree when she got distracted.
