4th floor common room: Sunday Morning

Blair had gone to eat a sandwich from the fridge and almost bit into mold. So he decided that it was time for the fridge to be cleaned out and the food tested for edibility. Figuring that breakfast was something that everyone enjoyed, he started cooking. He did find some eggs but the rest of breakfast was a weird mix of leftover pizza, sandwiches,

"WAFF-LES! NO-WAY! DUDE! DUDE! DUDE! ... WAFF-LES! NO-WAY! DUDE! DUDE! DUDE!"

She was blonde, she was tiny, she was on a skateboard, she was colliding with the doorfame. She tumbled forward and bounced to her feet. "DUDE!"

After talking to the other kids, Blair figured this was going to be someone's kid. The hair, the skateboard, the use of dude...it all added up to one thing.

"Let me guess, you're a Lizowski."

Rikku dashed into the common room, still in her pajamas, in hot pursuit of the little hellion.

She scooped Bayla up once she thumped off the doorframe. "Gotcha!"

And looked around the room. "Whoa. Lots of kids. What the ..."

She looked at Blair hopefully. Maybe he knew what was going on?

Bayla laughed happily and tried to wriggle out of her mother's arms. "Moooooom, lemme down! I wan' waffles!"

"Kids." Blair pointed. "From the future or some other reality or something."

He pointed over at Tributary and River coloring. "That little over there is mine."

Rikku stared. "Whoa. They're ... they're really ... 'cause she said but ..."

And then gave Bayla a tighter squeeze, and felt a tug at her heart, and ...

"I think I need to sit down or something?"

"I know the feeling." Blair nodded seriously. "I'm not even dating River anymore, much less ready to raise a kid with her."

"Oh! Oh, I'm sorry. Are you okay?" Rikku shook her head. "Jude and I - we're great, but yeah, a kid?! I mean, besides, we've never -" Her brain caught up to her mouth, and she put a hand over her (now beet-red) face. "Do not ask me to finish that sentence."

Blair blushed as well and rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh...yeah...we haven't either."

"Fandom's a very odd place sometimes."

"Really?" Rikku squeaked. "Okay, that helps, 'cause I was like, that's seriously weird but if it's not just us that's really, really not as freaky."

"I mean, not like saying that would be freaky, I mean, you know ..." She facepalmed again. "We totally need a new topic here, don't we?"

She shook her head. "So, uh. What'd you name her? I mean, alternate-you."

"Tributary." Blair grinned and bounced. "We're awesome parents apparently."

Rikku grinned and clapped her hands. "Oh! That's an awesome name! We named ours Bayla. It's Al Bhed for 'peace'. And of course you are! But I don't know if we're good parents or not, she didn't say anything, but she's really cute and she seems happy so you'd think so, right?"

"Awesome name." Blair watched Bayla for a moment. "She seems great so you guys must be good at the job."

Rikku smiled, shivering a little. "Thanks! I mean, I hope so? I mean. Wow." She sighed. "I'm not ready for this, at all, but ... she's really something, you know!?"

"Exactly." Blair nodded.

Rikku reached out to put her hand lightly on Blair's arm. "Do you think ... maybe you two can work things out?"
