Outside the Dorms: Thursday Morning [4-5-07]

Isobel had called in sick to work again as she wasn't about to take the chance that Millie would realize what was going on.  Not when they were so close to achieving their objective.  But she wasn't going to stay in the room with Mr. Snuggly either.  So she was out in front of the dorms, going over her list of ingredients she'd need for the opening

Nadia had a lot on her mind, from trying to figure out what had happened with the guitar playing and Chad's naked stunt, to Walter having left for home for a week last night, so she headed out for a walk.

When she spotted Lana, she offered a sort of half-wave. "Hey, Lana."

Isobel looked up from her notes and managed a smile. "Hello, Nadia."

There seemed to be something niggling at Nadia's mind, but she couldn't figure out what.

Probably wasn't important.

"Have you noticed anything . . . weird going on around here, lately? I mean, weirder than usual."

Oh, you have no idea! Isobel thought, but she furrowed her brow as if she was trying to think. "A bunch of people have seemed to be acting strange," she admitted slowly. "But I don't know if it's more than usual."

Remembering her radio broadcast on Sunday, Nadia thought she might put Lana herself into the "acting strange" category. "Like who? I've been trying to figure it out. I know Chad was up on the roof naked the other day, and I had . . . well, something happened to me, too. But we don't know why."

"Hmmm..." Isobel pretended to think for a moment. "Bridge's and Liz's powers flared up strangely..."

Nadia nodded slowly. "And . . . what about you? I mean, on Sunday. . . . That didn't really seem like you, from what I read for radio."

Isobel bit her lip, in the way she knew her host often did. "I have to admit, that I haven't felt... quite myself." And, oh, how true that was!

Nadia nodded a bit rapidly. "I think there's someone putting spells on people. You don't remember anything that happened to make you do anything, right? I think they're casting spells to make us do stuff, and maybe something to make us forget that they did. I just can't figure out who."

"No," Isobel said slowly. "It all seems a bit... fuzzy, as if there's something that I should remember but don't."

How amusing to be having this conversation. And how lucky that they would be in possession of the stones of power before the day was out tomorrow if people were already beginning to ask questions.

"Yes! That's it exactly!" Nadia scowled. "There's got to be some connection we can figure out, though. One person who everyone ran into, or something. Someone's probably possessed, and we've got to stop it."

"You think so?" Isobel asked, not exactly happy at the turn this was taking. "Not gremlins or something like that?"

Nadia shook her head. "Not gremlins. First off, if it were gremlins, we'd probably remember it. People don't forget they've been bit after the effects wear off. Secondly, I've been a gremlin, this isn't their style. Third? Marty isn't affected. If it were gremlins, they'd have totally bitten him, like, first."

Isobel bit her lip again. "Well, that sounds pretty serious. If you find out anything more let me know. Or if I can help in some way."

Help find a way to thwart you at least.
