Isobel had called in sick to work again as she wasn't about to take the chance that Millie would realize what was going on.  Not when they were so close to achieving their objective.  But she wasn't going to stay in the room with Mr. Snuggly either.  So she was out in front of the dorms, going over her list of ingredients she'd need for the opening ( Read more... )

Jack was on his way to class, even though he'd been reluctant to leave Cedric. When he spotted Lana, he froze, but no way in hell he was going to hide because of her.

Pasting on his most reckless grin, he walked out across the lawn. Pretending to ignore her.

The smirk wiped out his grin and he stopped, looking her over contemptuously, all his anger over what she'd done to him flaring back to life. "All alone I see. Not that it's a surprise," he sneered.

"I'm afraid I wore out my last lover," she said sweetly. "Did you want to volunteer? You were so eager before. And I never did get to taste you thoroughly."

Jack clenched his fists and bit back a wordless growl. "I never volunteered in the first place, you forced me. Remember? I wouldn't touch you voluntarily if my life depended on it. Because apart from anything else?" He smirked. "You were crap."

She just smirked at him again. "Hard to be really inspired by a substandard performance. I was rather disappointed given my host's high regard for you."

"You stole me, what exactly were you expecting..." He trailed off as the rest of her words sunk in, glaring as he stalked closer. "Host? What do you mean, host'?"

"Oh that's right," she drawled. "You don't remember everything, do you? Well, let's fix that. I can always make you forget again later." She waved a hand lazily, reversing the earlier spell.

He froze as the memory crashed over him, a swirl of tangled emotions with rage at their centre, and launched himself at her.

Isobel laughed and with a wave of her hand sent him flying through the air about 20 feet. "What's wrong, little pet?" she asked mockingly.

He landed flat on his back, gasping for breath from the impact. "Frak," he managed, then struggled to his feet, trying not to wince as he watched her warily.

She tilted her head. "What? Not going to rush at me again? Are you stopped this easily?"

"I'm not stupid," he bit out, despite all evidence to the contrary. "You picked the wrong place when you came here." He was backing away, putting distance and a convenient bench between them. He had to get away while he remembered.

"Now, now, we can't have my little mouse escaping," Isobel said and froze him where he stood. "I'm having far too much fun."

He couldn't move. Swearing, he tried anyway. He could not do this again.

"You could have just walked on by," Isobel said. "I would have let you go. But no, you wanted to attack poor innocent Lana. I find that most amusing of all, you know. She's stuffed down in here somewhere, never to be free again and all these so-called friends have decided she must be evil incarnate and - what? She just hid it all this time?"
