Dorm Lobby, Monday After Classes

Mar 19, 2007 14:00

Zero set up camp at a card table with a hand-lettered sign on the front:

EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE!
Sign this petition to show you want Alec to stay
Get a discount on admission to my new movie!

He does not have hairy toes!

It's not a bribe, it's an incentive.

Oh, yeah, she also had a basket of lollipops for petition-signers.

Parker's had an-- interesting weekend. Yeah. So, it's not like she can't see Zero's point here. She picked out a red lollipop and ripped off the wrapper. "You know it's up to Principal Washburn, anyway, right?"

"Yes, but if she sees he has student support, that might influence her decision," Zero explained patiently. "Sign!"

Parker shrugged and grabbed a pen. "I guess at least she'll know we're not scared of him. That can't hurt." She put her signature on the page, then handed it back to Zero. "And I can't throw stones." No, definitely not. "Though I feel sorry for Sam. He was dumb, but he meant well."

"Yeh, the Bel thing was definitely ill-advised, but you'd think people would have learned since then," Zero said. "Have another lolly."

Parker took a lemon one, then said, "You'd think. Although Sam wasn't here, and I guess didn't hear about it later. And I still had a good point, even though it backfired like a '74 Pinto." She shook her head, and took another lick of the red lollipop. "Not unlike this particular maneuver."

"I fail to see how being tortured as a child and being considered so low people thought of using you for parts equals being a stone-cold killer who could turn on us all at any moment," Zero said coldly. She was none too amused with Sam right now.

"You fail to see it, and I fail to see it." Parker was remembering that she almost was a stone-cold killer yesterday. She looked away. "Sam's fourteen and naive. Black and white. Good and bad. Demon and human. I'm assuming panic. Although I haven't talked to him or Alec, so there may be more to it. Or less. Either way, Alec shouldn't have been publically outed."

"It was unswerval," Zero agreed. "Therefore, petition."

"And lollipops and film." Parker smiled a little. "Very swerval. When's the first viewing?"

"Couple of days," Zero said vaguely. "I'm writing it working out a few last-minute kinks." It was possible she'd forgotten to book the theater.

Parker gave her a lower-wattage-than-normal smile, and said, "I might have some stuff coming up. But you know I'll be there. And I'll let you know about Caritas as soon as I hear back for this week too." She snitched one last green lollipop in honor of Zero's hair. "Good luck with this."

"Thanks. I'll see you later," Zero called after her, a little worried about the quality of Parker's smile.
