HAHAHAHAHA, I've done that MANY times. I've started watching, stopped watching and then started again. The drama, it is too entertaining for me to stay away!
The drama! You think it's too much, and then someone babbles about a new episode and you go "OMG. I HAVE TO SEEEEE."
Plus, you know, Shonda chooses the most awesome music for the soundtrack of this show. Grey's totally got me hooked on Anna Nalick with that bomb episode. *shakes a fist*
Omg, I was singing How to Save a Life for MONTHS because of this show. It really does have an AWESOME soundtrack even if the songs are earwormy as hell.
Oh oh oh, the "Walking my Dog" song, too. So, so many earwormy songs, it's nuts. And awesome. And a roomie of mine had a playlist at one point, of just Grey's songs, which was win.
Also, I'm throwing in my agreement on the "This show would be better without Meredith" thing. Because dude, she's about 99% of the reason I keep putting it down.
It's the reason I've never picked the show up. I've heard amazing things about it, and I keep catching little snippets of the show when changing channels, and I get pulled in by the awesome soapy goodness, and think, "wow, I should watch this." Then Meredith fucking shows up, and I throw things at the TV.
Why hasn't anyone ever made Grey-less Grey's? A special edition box set with all of Ellen Pompeo's scenes removed.
Most everyone hates Meredith so you are not alone. She's the reason I've stopped watching the show (well her and that stupid boreship) before picking it back up because something awesome happened.
I try just to ignore her when she's onscreen even if she seems to be onscreen for like 95% of the episode.

Is Addison's spin-off show still on the air? Is it Meredith-free? I mean, that sounds beautiful, right there.

And yep! It's Meredith free and Addison is still fucking hot as hell. It's not as drama laden as GA but it's still good popcorn.
