So, a question. If someone knew nothing of the canon except what she'd picked up from clips here and there -- could you dive straight into CoD, or would you need a crash course on the Dune miniseries so you weren't left staring in confusion at all the shiny terms and people?
Honestly, I think you can watch CoD on its own. It actually combines books 2 & 3, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune, and sums up the events of Dune right at the very beginning.
And if you get lost, you can always poke one of us over AIM, or just read the wiki entry for Paul Atreides. It's a very detailed and complex world, but I think SciFi did a great job of keeping it simple.

And I do love that the cast and director were willing to Go There in regards to the twins' relationship, and I think they did a fantastic job.
