Flight and Flying [Friday morning, Flight Club shed]

Jun 09, 2006 08:57

The flight simulator had been reconfigured again--this time to something that should seem a bit more familiar to Earth-based students: The F-16 Flying Falcon.

Practice Run on the Simulator emo_padawan June 9 2006, 16:10:35 UTC
The weapons are simulated, the catharsis is real.

It wasn't the first time Cameron had tried out the F-16 on the simulator, but that didn't stop him from being excited. He smiled as he ran a hand over the controls, taking a moment to become familiar with them again. Strange how a bunch of fake memories could make you feel perfectly at ease with something. His practice run went very smoothly.

Rory took a practice run, and due to the constant buzzing in her ears, nevermind the itching at the back of her head and slight soreness she could feel tugging at various spots on her skin, neither her accuracy nor her reflexes were the best.

As she stopped the pratice, she decided that she'd sit out of the actual exercise today.

Anakin gave her a very worried look when she wasn't looking in his direction.

You are looking for five targets located in a mountain range. They vary in size from a several story-tall building to a small car. The average pilot can make it through the run in about 12 minutes.

Cameron wasn't going to skip any of the exercises today at all. Actually, Anakin might have to kick him out of class today. He managed to locate the first four targets quickly and eleminated them without much problem. The last target took a bit longer. In the end, it took him 11:37 to finish the run.

Anakin let out a low whistle. "Nicely done," he said.

Cameron beamed and might be on a geeking out high. "Thanks. It's not exactly your starfighter, but they still do the trick."

Classic dogfighting. You are up against three airplanes that are heavier and less manueverable than you are, but they have longer-range weapons.

Try not to die.

Sam flashed Anakin a grin. "Can you reprogram it so we can fly against each other? I do better against a live person."

"Sure," Anakin said, shooting Sam a cocky smile. "I'd vape you where you fly, though. It wouldn't be fair for me to play."

"Yeah, you'd think so, flyboy," Sam teased, "but you're not used to the plane, and I know exactly what they can do. One minute you'll be dealing with the lack of thrust, and the next you'll be snorting ozone."

Even if she was a little out of practice.
