Basketball Practice, Friday Afternoon, Camp Gym

Jun 09, 2006 10:34

The book fair was in the school gym, so Tyler had handwavily sent out an email telling the basketball team to practice in the camp gym instead.

He was attempting to clear the court of tiny frogs through enthusiastic dribbling. Sadly, the frogs seemed to enjoy the vibrations.

Chairs are set up so players can work on this exercise.

Zack started weaving in and out of chairs, dribbling as he went.

Sawyer tried his best to do the exercise, "Ack!" And also not trying to squish the tiny froggies that where all over the place, "Jesus!" Dribble, ribbit, dribble.

Jamie did the drill and only hit a chair once duplicating himself

Greg managed to dribble around the chairs fairly easily, tripping a grand total of one time.

Tyler jerked his head to Greg in a greeting. "Nice," he said. "Hey, can I ask you something?"

"Go for it," Greg replied, pausing and skidding slightly.

Tyler smirked slightly at the skidding, and lowered his voice before talking. "I think I heard last night handwavily that you might have some ideas for the Egypt project," he said. "What are you thinking about?"

"Oh, oh, dude, are you the one who found the little baby...thingy?" Greg asked, also lowering his voice. "'Cause I'd love to take a look at the scrap thing. Aside from that? I think I'll be making some explosives, probably. Homemade flares, probably."

Tyler just stared at Greg for a moment. "Wait," he said, and went over to his backpack. He retrieved a quarter-sized piece of tea-colored fabric, which he held out to Greg. "This is the thing," he said, still speaking softly.

"And I have some experience with the other stuff you mentioned." One side of his mouth curled up in a half-smile. "Not all of which ends with me getting hurt. Let me know if you want help."

Greg took the fabric carefully, and walked over to his own backpack, where he shook out a small plastic bag. He placed the fabric inside it and shut it, pressing all the air out in the process.

He returned to Tyler, eyeing him. "Help's always appreciated, but you won't land yourself in the clinic again, right?"

Tyler pouted. "Not if I can help it," he said. "A week in that place is enough."

"Aren't you going out to be one of the fighty peoples, though?" Greg asked.

Tyler gave Greg a sidelong look. "Yeah. But I can fight without getting hurt, and take care of myself if I do get hurt."

Tempe attempted this exercise, and did fairly well at it. She missed the three-pointer, and then tripped over a group of congregating frogs.

"Damn it."

She got up and continued, completing the rest of the exercise with no problem. Except for the throbbing pain in her knee, of course.
