Quantum Physics, Period 5, April 17th

"Sorry about missing class last Wednesday, docs, but there was this carrot so big you wouldn't believe it...! Oh, wait, you don't believe it? Probably a good move."

"Anyways, today we're talking about Isaac Newton and his first law." Bugs flipped the board (which was, for the record, a white board attached to the wall, but we're in a class that had been renamed "Cartoon Physics, so just go with it) over, revealing the following:

An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

"Usually, I call that unbalanced force 'Elmer' or 'Sam'," Bugs joked, spinning his index finger by his head in the international sign for "crazy." "In cartoons, this still applies. The only question is, when does an unbalanced force occur?"

Bug took a marker and draw a detailed hole in the wall. Despite the fact that it was a blue marker, the drawing showed the hallway exactly as it appeared, color and all. He touched the drawing to show that it was solid, then he backed up and ran through the hole.

After giving a quick wave, he reentered the room through the door. "If I had run at the wall before drawing that hole, the wall would have exerted a force on me, giving me a headache and a chipped tooth. By drawing that hole, I really unbalanced that force and it took a quick trip to the loony bin. Therefore, I could continue at the same speed and direction right through a wall. So when does an unbalanced force occur?"

"When it's funnier to see somebody smack into a wall."

"I wouldn't try to test if it's back to being just normally unbalanced if I were you. But there's a first aid kit in my desk if you do."
