Where does regret slip into self-loathing? Why is it sometimes easier to forgive others than ourselves? Or for some of you, why is it easier to forgive one's self than to forgive those around you? Are all regrets created equal?

Is there a mental limit you have for forgiving or excusing the same person?

"I had my personal worst day well early," said the fourteen year old. "So I had to learn to let go of regret right quick, or I woulda DROWNED in it." In fact, wee Lottie had spent her weekend hiding in her closet doing just that. So this was pretty fresh on her mind. "As for other people . . . at a certain point if they're doin the same thing over and over, that's just who they are. Even if they say they're regrettin it, they're not learning from it. So you need to move on."

"I swore off solvin mysteries once. Turns out you can't keep a good lady detective away."

"Who has time for regrets?" asked the girl drinking in her first period class. "Life's too short."

Sometimes Isabela was a terrible liar.

Funny how Obi-Wan didn't buy that, yes.

"I do hope that is water you have brought with you," he said mildly, vaguely wondering about the ethics of mind-whammying a student.
