It wasn't entirely unheard of that someone might throw a book across the room in reaction to something in it. Cosette knew this; Éponine in particular was guilty of it whenever she read books that were part of a series, and ended on cliffhangers, and she herself had gotten exactly that carried away on a few occasions.
None that she would admit to in front of the library books, though. Especially not today, when one of her tasks was inspecting returns for damage. Luckily the worst of it so far amounted to a few torn corners, a fraying binding or two, and a telltale round brown stain where someone had clearly put a coffee mug on top of the book.
"You'll be all right," Cosette told the coffee-stained book, patting its spine lightly. "I'm afraid I can't do anything to take the stain out, but you're all right otherwise, and I promise it won't make anyone want you any less."
Because of course she was the sort to give books motivational pep talks.
[OOC: The OCD forgot to set its alarm this morning. 'tis open.]
