Parker is examining her newest purchases, and nobody gets to touch them. She'll slap your hand if you try.

Targets are set up-- with a specialty on gremlin silhouettes.

Have at it.

ETA: Best score on the Gremlin silhouettes gets a case of free ammo and a bottle of your choice of booze from Parker.

Sam wandered in a few minutes after Janet. "Hey, Parker. Ooh, gremlins. More fun with a bat, but I guess I'll survive, somehow." She grinned.

"If I get my way, we might have the real thing in here," Parker says dryly. "Janet's already here too. How's your day going?"

"Oh, spectacular," Sam smirked. "First I went to visit the moron in the infirmary, then I went to talk to the Doctor about how he went batshit insane after getting bitten by a gremlin in Wednesday's class, then I went to the library and bothered Janet."

She walked over to the weapons and began looking them over. "How's your day been?"

"Library, where Zero was zoning and talking to the books; chocolate I couldn't really indulge in, but at least got some good teasing done on Cam Mitchell; here, with various pissed-off people wanting to blow away their troubles. Could be worse." She grinned, then patted the case. "Oh, and? Grenades!"

[[gotta go, back in an hour or so :> ]]

Sam's face lit up with a kind of unholy glee. "Grenades? Really? Oh, Jack's going to be so sorry he missed this."

"Do I want to know why Zero was talking to the books, or is just going to make my head hurt?" Sam tried to figure out when things like this stopped surprising or even bothering her and couldn't put her finger on it.

"The new place in town, Blood Gulch Arms, has three diffeent kinds!" Parker is nearly bouncing. She stopped, looking abashed. "I only bought four, but I'm going to see about setting up an outside course for training on them next week. I was also thinking a field trip into town would be a good idea."

"It'll make your head hurt. Contracts signed in blood always do." Parker shakes her head. "Want me to start the count on your gallery?"

"We'll absolutely have to train with them! And then we could move on to C4...and naquadah.... Field trip? For weapons? Sometimes I really love this place."

Sam was almost obscenely excited at the prospect, but she was standing next to Parker, who seemed to get it, so she wasn't too concerned about retaining her dignity.

"She signed a contract in blood? Here? Wow...that's...even dumber more reckless than jumping into that locker."

"Yeah, that would be great, thanks."

"I know. I have to get permission, first, but seriously, it's better that people know the legalities and practicalities of acquiring these things than get picked up for carrying concealed. Not that that's ever happened to me. And ooo, maybe claymores?"

"In Zero's defense, it was accidental, but.. yeah. I think we have to look into breaking the contract." Parker bit her lip. "But I'm worried the Library will feel rejected if we do that."

Parker hit the video recorder/counter, and moved away to watch.

"It's not just the acquiring of them, Parker. It's also about knowing what they can do. The destruction...it's not little. People need to know what they're getting into.Oooh...claymores...."

Sam looked at Parker incredulously. "You're worried about rejecting the Library now? When did it become sentient?"

She took her position, rolled her head on her neck, and fired the entire clip at the target in rapid succession.

"Precisely. Granted, we're not a boot camp. But a lot of people are interested in how these things work. We're not qualified to train in demolitions, but we can at least give an overview in what's out there. Maybe Simtex? Do you think Professor MacGyver would help if you flirted with him?

"Uh, we're kind of afraid it always was. Evidently it likes snarky people with caffiene addictions." Parker shrugged helplessly. "It hasn't done anything *bad* to Zero, to be contracted to it, but... it's worrying."

Parker watches Sam shoot, then smiles wryly. "You've been practicing, I think."

"If you talk to the Dean, he should know about the special qualifications we've got around here--we had to tell him when we registered. He may approve it if we're here supervising. Simtex would be great, but Professor MacGyver is anti-guns. Not sure how he feels about explosives, though.

"Well, then it's certainly picked the right staff, hasn't it?" Sam asked, grinning. "Of course it's worrying! She's signed a deal in blood with a sentient Library. That can't possibly be a good thing."

"No, just more focused today. No classes."

"Ooo. Will do. When I think he's in a better mood. Heh. Thanks! I heard he used to disarm bombs. Maybe this will bring back memories?

"I can't think it's a good thing either, but breaking the contract without it hating us-- tough call. I'm going to bring it up to her at the next Investigations Club meeting. If she's going to investigate weirdness around here, she needs to start with herself."

"Ah. I had Ethics except not really, so I can't tell you about it but otherwise, Fridays are always easy. Are you going to Echolls' party tomorrow?"

"No problem. Because, really, C4? Lots of fun. Maybe. It happens like that sometimes."

"Maybe the Library will have a book on it? And, well, yeah."

Sam considered this, tilting her head to the side and hoping Veronica Mars didn't sue her for it. "You know, I think I am. I've had a very strange week and need to cut loose a little. You?"

"Maybe they'll let us clear the weeds with it. Or gophers? Gremlin hunt! Heh. I'll email him, maybe he'll want to do it just to make sure we don't blow ourselves up.

"Oy. Only Zero would have this happen to her. *sigh*"

"I'm going, if only to prove I can be civil to Echolls, so Rory quits worrying. Plus, I need to pick up a present for Alex Krycek, and I'm sure he'll be there." She shakes her head. "I'd say it was a tacky idea, but... Honestly? I'm as glad to still be alive as anyone else."

"Gremlin hunt sounds plausible. It's true. He seems to be properly concerned with his students' safety."

"Only because Daniel Jackson isn't a student. Otherwise, you can be sure it'd be his name on the dotted line, instead of hers."

"It's maybe a little tacky," Sam said as she reloaded her weapon," but it's okay to celebrate life--isn't that what a wake is all about?"

"Cool. And hot. Always a good quality in a teacher."

"Oh, is that the kind of thing that he used to do? I thought you guys were kidding about him getting killed..."

"I'd feel more certain about that if it weren't Echolls giving the party," Parker said dryly. "But Gilmore's there to play Good Taste Police, so. I'm going."
