... Granted, there were drafts into SOLDIER. And a lot of candidates didn't even survive the treatments that made them into SOLDIER instead of just normal infantry. But Zack? So not one of those guys, so yay?

He wasn't going to get into an ideological argument about the cognitive capacity for pre-teens to make well thought-out decisions. That would get messy.
