As he walked into class today Max looked relaxed and, well, pretty much like himself. Not at all like he'd handwavily headed back to Alera to see if the Captain had any new orders for him last week.

Now that you think about it, who do you wish you'd buttered up over the holiday? And what would you have gotten them?

He paused and reconsidered. Hot was possibly not right even if it was true.

Max gave Hannibal a long, somewhat doubtful, look. "You... think you can fool Principal Washburn about being a poor misunderstood boy?" Either the boy was an acting genius, or...

Helen wasn't certain about the buttering up part, still... "Perhaps Hinata," she said slowly. "Not that she is difficult in any way, but she was kind enough to send me flowers because she thought it would not be a common thing for me."

Kianah might have poked her long ears out of her pocket and chirruped a little at Hinata's name.
