"Finding out that a major part of their life has been a lie is the usual first step in the feminine journey," Cindy agreed, voice gentle. "It can be as simple as the realization that they are not as happy being a wife and mother as they believe or as major as discovering something as potentially life-altering as what you've described."
Dropping her voice a bit, so that Tara alone could hear, Cindy added, "I know what that feels like. If you ever need to talk, I'm in Office Eleven." She gave Tara a brief, understanding smile before asking, "Now, what's with the hedgehog? New pet?"

She smiled about the hedgehog, though. "This? This is my girlfriend. Kennedy. She, um ... they told you this happens, right? She just changed all of a sudden last night. I would have left her in my room but we have cats."
Kennedy-the-hedgehog might have thought she could take on the cats. Tara thought differently.
