Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. Anakin stalked toward the group, moving fast enough to make the hem of his robe skim off the ground.

He wore his traditional scowl on his face.

Illyria, unlike Eric -- actually everything about Illyria was as unlike Eric as inhumanly possible. In this instance the important part was that she answered with as few words as the man in front of them had used.

Not mine. Illyria knew power when it stood in front of her as well, but there were things she wouldn't say. Couldn't. No master but your own ambition.

There were other words, though, that she'd been taught were wise. Not ordered, never that, Wesley was too clever for that, but advised. Yes. "I... thank you."
