"I'm Jenny Sparks, I think my legal guardian signed me up for this class, probably because he thinks he's funny, but if I can just get one piece of useful information I didn't know before out of it, I need all the help I can get in my profession. Which is. Er. Superheroics. God, that sounds stupid. I guess my question is, what makes you qualified to teach us this? And I actually have a second, logistical qustion: May I smoke in this class?"

She looked amused but not overly so. "Around here? Not entirely stupid. Least you're not wearing brightly coloured pajamas about it. As for my qualifications, I was trained by my country's spymasters since I was very small. When I was sixteen, I was brought into another country and wound up enmeshed in a rebellion against a rather corrupt regime, trained a pack of spies and ended up as the spymaster to the new Queen. Who I've served as such for seven or so years now." She grinned. "And you may only smoke if we're talking about that's part of your powers and not cigarettes."

"Bugger," Jenny muttered, and stuffed her pack of Silk Cuts back in her pocket. Well, an hour without nicotine wouldn't kill her.

"Brightly colored pajamas went out a while ago. Now it's black leather or the liquid machinery you replaced your blood with." Or white spandex that tore suspiciously easily and often, Apollo.
