Combined Mathematics #6 [Friday 10-12, Period 4]

Jean-Paul was pacing again today. On the chalkboard were drawn two symbols, the multiplication symbol and the division symbol. It looked like a circle had been drawn around the X for multiplication, then erased. "My apologies for my absence last week, my player is a moron I had an unforeseen family emergency. In Canada. Luckily, the topic I had scheduled for last week and this week's topic dovetail quite nicely. Multiplication is simply adding the same number to itself x number of times. So five times four is five fours, or four fives, or, as I sincerely hope you all already know, twenty. Division is asking yourself 'how many times does this number fit into that number?' The rest of the information is handwavily in your texts. During class, I would like everyone to pair up and discuss ways that multiplication and division are useful in real life. On your way out the door, please pick up your worksheets and a review packet, because, yes, we will be having an exam when you get back from your break. Any questions?"
