Flight and Flying [Friday, June 29, 2nd period]

When the flight workshop arrived at the shed, they found it locked up tight and Anakin leaning up against it.

"For our last class," he said, "we're going to fly helicopters. The pilot's waiting for us over at Selkie Cove. Come grab a hat--and no, they're not optional--and then we'll head over together

Fly a helicopter

Much to the pilot's annoyance, Anakin took over immediately when they arrived, giving them all a comprehensive set of instructions as to how the helicopter worked. After five minutes where he only glared at the pilot every other minute--go Anakin--the pilot was ready to take the students up on their own totally moddable as long as you don't try to die trips around the island.

Jaina was distracted enough to wear the stupid hat without complaining, but not enough to crash the helicopter. Which the pilot was probably pretty glad for.

John was more than willing to wear the hat since he was getting to fly a helicopter. Not that he was excited or anything.

Johnny didn't mind wearing the hat at all. He was way too excited about getting to fly the helicopter.

Anders was in too good a mood to mind the goofy hat -- he actually kept trying to nudge the propeller into spinning faster -- as he climbed up into the helicopter to take his flight.

He didn't do too badly, except for a few shaky moments where he tried to do the "Look, I can see my Galaxy Glider/room window/the Pyramid court from here!" thing and started listing to the side a bit. Good thing helicopters can hover, though.

Gavin put on the stupid hat and then looked carefully over the controls. The stupid hat kept distracting him though.

Inara sighed, but donned the hat as instructed. Once she was strapped into her seat, the pilot talked her through take off.

She found that she especially liked flying over the water, especially after she dipped a little low over the trees and the pilot took over the controls for a bit. She did manage to handle the landing herself, though.

Robin loved his silly hat. He wanted to send one to Gonzo.

His flight around the island went rather well considering the improvised booster seat and extentions to let him reach the pedals.

Billy listened carefully to the instructions, ignoring the hat he was wearing, and then flew the helicopter effortlessly around the island.

Naomi didn't mind wearing the hat. She looked over the controls of the helicopter a couple of times before she began flying.
