Distracted though she may have appeared, Laura Roslin was still a teacher. She managed to take roll visually, and would make notes in her attendance record later.

Just like going on a field trip, Laura expected some chatter between the students. And, as long as it didn't get out of hand -- i.e. fisticuffs -- she was okay with that.

"Not exactly, ma'am," Gwynn said truthfully. "I was attacked... and Conner and the doctors were concerned as the attacker had cut my chest open ... and my arm." Gwynn held up her arm that had a banadeage covering the stitches. "I was really disappointed that I was forced to stay in the clinic and missed your class."
