Parents Weekend Meet and Greet - Dorm Lobby and Out Front, Friday Afternoon

The front of the dorms is set up with tables galore full of food, drinks and charming little decorations. Inside in the lobby is more room to mingle, a Mountie wanting you to show him what you've got and a registration desk with those little sticky badges that say "Hello! My name is..."

"Are those twinkies?" Robert looked at a small stack of them while he got a glass of punch.

"Maybe a student put them there." Maria said with a smile. "Have you seen JC?"

Broots would have really liked it if the answer to that question was a big, fat, no. "Hi Mom. Dad. Annoying one."

"JC!" Maria turned to give him a hug. Robert waited a moment before patting him on the back. "It's good to see you, Jack."

"I didn't want to." Cam said cheerfully. "But apparently I'm supposed to miss you when you're not around and be nice to you this weekend. So...you don't look that horrible, dork."

"Aw, I'm touched. That almost sounded sincere!" Broots didn't roll his eyes. "Couldn't you have left in the trunk or something?"

"Which would work except your crappy ass school doesn't let cars come into town." Cam frowned when her dad gave her a disapproving look.

"So, Jack. What have you been up to so far?" Robert looked over his glasses at Broots. "How are your classes coming along? Made any new friends? Joined a sports team?"

"Parking lot." Broots informed Cam. "And um...there are no sports teams here, except the cheerleaders." I think

"Cheerleading is nice." Maria smiled. "Did you join?"

There was a sputter of noise that came from Robert direction and Cam just muttered 'freak' under her breath.

Broots for once agreed with his father. "We already have one cheerleader in the family. Someone has to protect their brain cells."

Cam just rolled her eyes and moved to grab a twinkie off the table.

Robert was very glad, for once, that his son wasn't into sports. "So what are you doing outside of class?"

"Well...I joined flightl club and last week we got to go into space and I found out that our club president is a real life alien!" This was the Best. Thing. Ever. "Oh, and Aeryn promised that if I managed to go through a meeting without crashing I can do whatever I want to the simulator the next week."

Robert was going to comment on how flight club was a good choice but the alien and space talk had currently rendered him speechless.

"JC, dear, that's wonderful. What about your motion sickness?" Maria asked, concentrating on the important parts. Well, important to a mother at least.

"Oh, well, I actually nearly threw up, but that was only once." Broots ran a hand through his hair. "Usually, the excitment over rides any nausea. Plus, I'm using the bracelet things."
