Criminal Justice [1st Period, Tuesday

Sep 12, 2006 02:14

"Good morning," V greeted quietly from the shadows when everyone had arrived. "Today we shall discuss the Judicial system of the United States, as well as due process."

He continued on in a low voice for a few minutes, hitting high points like the Miranda warning, trial by jury and the fifth amendment to the United States' Constitution, and ( Read more... )

Z has never heard of half these things, since SPD doesn't so much use them. Miranda rights? Trial by jury? Way of the dodo. So she is making frantic notes throughout the lecture.

His dad had lectured Jared and him about these particlar things more than once, so Seely doodled instead of taking notes.

Bridge takes careful notes during the lecture, seeing as he's used to a system where the arresting officer also acts as the judge and jury.

Peter started taking copious notes about a minute into the lecture. None of this was even remotely familiar to him, no. And he was far more used to being the judge.

Alec listened. He may not have cared much, but he listened.

Dean listened with half an ear and doodle in his notebook. He may not have known all the details, but he knew enough about the justice system to hopefully not get caught or if he did to talk his way out of.

Those kinds of lessons were among some of his favourites that Dad had taught him and Sammy.

Alanna took careful notes, because most of this might as well have been in greek for her.

Jack took notes. Lots of them. Because the first thing you had to know if you were going to play fast and loose with the rules was what the rules were.

He was smirking a bit over the Miranda warning, though -- honestly, if you were stupid enough to open your mouth and blab everything the second you got caught? You deserved to go to jail.

Kawalsky took a few notes. Not many though. He'd been through this before. But a refresher course was always nice.

Teddy paid close attention to the Miranda warning, though he wasn't sure if it was necessary if you were fighting super-villains.

You have the right to remain silently hanging upside down from a lamppost. Anything you say could be used against you if you didn't have webbing over your mouth.

Peter knew the real version, so he allowed himself some silliness before getting back to real note-taking.

Aeryn's only slightly bitter about this whole trial and due process thng, really. Only slightly.

Layla took interested notes - she had vague knowledge of the mundane justice system, but it certainly wasn't the sort of thing that heroes and sidekicks learned.

Pete kind of stared vaguely at the wall. He was not only familiar with the American Justice system, he'd also been on the wrong side of it several times. He knew all about trials by juries and things.

More importantly, he knew all about when those things didn't happen, despite the fact that everyone says they're supposed to.

Trials sounded like a pretty decent concept to Luke.

Then his imagination got the better of him and he began doodling evil Sith Lords being dropped into Sarlaac pits.

He was careful to draw in the jury first, though.
