"You have to!" He looked close to tears. "I can't stay here, okay? This place is zarking insane. It's the middle of nowhere. Everything there is to do or see, I've done and saw, and I can't take it anymore. I have to get out of here."

Oh I love this cross-over. I think you've got the Guide's tone bang on, and the 'voice' of the piece really reminds me of the film. Lovely, lovely moment.

I like it, I do. Two lost people, meeting in a pub. I felt sad for both of them that Jack couldn't take Ford with him. Nice work on the crossover.

Jack promptly launched loudly into a story appropriate for an English audience in the eighties, one that wouldn't announce that he was a time traveler. It nevertheless involved copious amounts of alcohol and nudity and kissing and running from danger, and by the time he reached the climax he had a sizable audience and a very pretty blonde sitting in his lap, licking his ear.

That is SO Jack and SO H2G2. I love it ;-)

Drunken, stuck-on-Earth Ford! Green spaceships! Jack failing to shag *either* Ford or Arthur! Hitchikkers writers & Time Agents and drunkenness, yay! "Jack drew the story to its conclusion and was pleased that it was greeted by laughter, admiring looks, and a friendly grope or two." This is fantastic! Thank you so much for writing this! Honestly, I particularly like that you set it even before the Earth blew up--the scenarios I vaguely imagined always took place after Ford had dragged Arthur off with him. This is far more interesting. :)

I think I tried two or three scenarios post-Earth's destruction, but none of them worked. And then setting it prior to the Vogons destroying to Earth just let everything fall into place. :D
