Basement of The Towers::: Saturday afternoon

Sep 16, 2006 18:26

Maia stood several feet away from the dart board, glancing around quickly she gave her dart a toss and watched it sail through the air. Right on cue the dart hit dead center and she smiled. She might suck at most all other sports but at darts she could hold her own.

"What happens if you want to make it hit on the edge?" Willy Wonka said not at all impressed with Maia hitting the bullseye.

Maia stared at Willy Wonka for a moment before rolling her eyes as she looked back at the dartboard. "Well that would defeat the purpose of trying to win the game. You want to hit the center." She said in a tone that sounded as if she had explained this point to Willy Wonka before.

"Well that isn't hard." He said picking up a dart and looking at Maia. Taking his place behind the line he smirked at her. "I'm going to hit it on the edge. It's much harder to do that. I'm going to give myself extra points for that because it's harder then hitting that big huge center."

Maia rolled her eyes again. "You can't do that, that's cheating Mr. Wonka. You can't just say 'I'm going to give myself extra points' and then make up rules." She said in an exasperated tone.

Dart still in hand Willy turned to look at her, "Well..." He then sat the dart down. "Well that's just stupid and I'm not going to play with you. What do you think of that?"

Maia tilted her head and looked at him. "You're impossible. This was a stupid idea you can't even play darts right. Those are the rules, you can't play unless you follow the rules." She sighed and sat on the stool near the little bar. "That isn't fair to everyone else playing, if you make up that rule then I am going to say that I win the game every time I make the bulls eye." She said in a satisfied tone.

Willy looked utterfly frustrated at her. "You're to tall to play this game right anyway. Minus twenty points for being to tall. You can lean more towards the board, I don't think that's fair. I think I should get more points I have shorter arms."

Maia threw up her hands in disgust at him. "I am not to tall. Maybe I should say minus fifty because you're so short. Just play by the rules, no adding points for edges and for short arms and minus points for being tall. That's insane it doesn't make sense." Her good mood that had started when she arrived in the basement pub was ebbing away quickly.

"That isn't so." He retorted, "It makes complete sense to me and I'm not complaining."

Maia blinked several times, she honestly didn't think there was enough vodka in the world to understand Willy Wonka's idea of logic. "It would." She said shortly before getting her vodka sour from the bar keep.

"Well of course, they are my rules for how the game should be played. I don't like the way you play. My way is much more creative." He smirked in triumph and tossed a dart hitting the edge of the outer circle.

"I play the way my girlfriend taught me." She replied taking another sip. "It's the proper way to play."

"Well, when we play in England we can play the way your girlfriend plays. We can play my way here. It makes sense to play my way here, I live here."

Tired of arguing with Willy and actually, if she admitted it, a little intrigued by his 'rules' of the game. She laid down her glass and picked up her dart. "So, minus twenty for being tall." She nodded and rolled her eyes. "I'm still winning." She grinned at Willy Wonka and threw her dart, it landed right next to his on the edge of the outer circle.
