Jesus Fucking H. Christ!
No, Fandom_Scruples is NOT Dr_C. Dr_C is a person of intelligence and good sense who does not seek to impose his views and preferences on anyone else. Dr_C was obviously not at the PoA IMAX thing, and I'm sure he doesn't even know who most of the people on the last imbecilic list were.
Fandom_Scruples is stupid, incoherent, ridiculous, offensive, and illogical BECAUSE IT IS DESIGNED TO BE. It is a sock puppet created by one of the people on that last little list. A very great number of people, including me, are quite sure who it is, and frankly I think anyone ought to be able to figure it out if they take the slightest glance back through fandom history of the last year and a half.
But WHATEVER. F_S IS NOT REAL. It is not anyone on it's friends list, and it doesn't care in the slightest about children being exposed to porn. It is a woman, a member of the HP fandom, and it is designed to be foolish and easily-made-fun-of.

Camilla, I distinctly remember having a conversation with you, where you told me you had almost enough evidence to prove who this person was. (According to you, it was either Dionne's stalker, all the ex-GT admins, or pottersginny)
You told me all you needed, was for this person to make a few more posts, and you could nail them. Well, here you are. Care for a mallet?
First: if there are warnings saying "NO CHILDREN UNDER 18 ALLOWED", most children will flee. Those that don't are actively seeking such material, and probably won't do so in fandom. If they do so, it's probably because they're teenagers and want some pr0n to relieve the tension. I'd rather have the teenagers masterbating than having sex to get their kicks. It's a lot safer, y'know. No risk of VD, HIV, or pregnancy...or did they teach you that stuff in your school?
Second: Morality in Media again? *laughs heartily* Go get yourself a girlfriend (or would that be boyfriend in your case? Something tells me that you're repressing something).
We pay attention to you because you're telling us what to do. If you feel you have that right, then we must have that right over you, too. And we want to say that you need to get a huge dildo and shove it up your ass. Then jerk off to the Potter Porn that you're reading and are so disturbed by. Have your sister help.
Because I am human and male and surging hormones make living decently very hard at times.
So, you can't stop looking at Pottersmut and you're feeling guilty, eh?
Look, even free hardcore porn sites only require a disclaimer on the splash page stating that you are of legal age to view pornographic material. Most personal fan fiction archives that I have visited have this, as well. You can choose to enter, or leave.
As a clinical psychologist, I have treated, over the years, approximately 350 sex addicts, sex offenders, or other individuals (96% male) with sexual illnesses.
I don't really trust the expertise of "clincal experience" (see "House of Cards" by Robyn M. Dawes). A Freduian will gather clinical experience that validates Freudianism, a Jungian will gather clinical experience that validates Jungianism, and someone who believes that Satanistic school teachers are sexually molesting children will find clinical evidence to validate that, even if all available physical evidence (not to mention common sense) contradicts it. Statistical studies don't do much better on the "porn is bad" front. For instance, there was a study that showed some statistically significant correlation between porn magazine readership and rape incidence. However, a similar study showed an even better correlation between the readership of magazines

Gah! That link doesn't work is. Try this link here, then click on "Pornography's Effects on Adults and Children". The brain-dead JavaScript the site has won't all any direct linking to the essay I'm talking about; grahhhhh!!!
I just had to pop in.iczer6August 23 2004, 06:18:16 UTC
I just want to ask about this part:
The first change that happened was an addiction-effect. The porn-consumers got hooked. Once involved in pornographic materials, they kept coming back for more and still more. The material seemed to provide a very powerful sexual stimulant or aphrodisiac effect, followed by sexual release, most often through masturbation. The pornography provided very exciting and powerful imagery which they frequently recalled to mind and elaborated on in their fantasies.
So why is this bad? I thought that's what porn was supposed to do, turn you on so you either masturbate or get some loving.
I don't see the problem. I feel that porn, like most things in life should be done with moderation, but I don't see why people becoming aroused by things that are supposed to arouse them is such a big deal.
I can understand that it isn't your responsibility to lock up your NC17 material but what I can't understand is why you wouldn't want to.
Because it's a friggin free internet and I want to make it easy to the consenting adults who like erotic fiction so that I'll get more feedback. As for the brats, they should be guarded by their parents, older siblings, nannys, whatever... but I never applied for responsibility of a kid, thus I will not have it forced on me other.

because fantasizing about sexual encounters is WRONG!
because sex-outside-of-marriage-for-procreative-purposes-only is WRONG!
because feeling good while having sex is WRONG!
