We received an email back from the Lawrence Community Center this afternoon!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for picking the Lawrence Community
Shelter as one of your two inaugural charities to benefit from the
generosity of Supernatural fans! I have updated our website to
reflect your support of our charity.
We have a lot of exciting things in development for LCS. One of our
works programs, Good Dog! Biscuits and Treats, helps LCS guests learn
about business from the ground up as they bake, package, and
distribute gourmet dog biscuits (soon available through the Good Dog!
website). Several other small business opportunities are in
development, as well. And we are actively searching for a new
building to expand the services and programs we can offer to people
experiencing homelessness (our capital campaign will most likely
officially start Jan 1, 2008). As always, any donations we receive
are going directly to supporting LCS guests on their path to a
positive future.

Fan Website for TV Show Supernatural Supports Lawrence Charity
Fans took the much-loved quote from Supernatural’s first season to
heart when choosing the charities for the first campaign on the site
www.fandom-rocks.com. Fans expressed a desire for a charity based in
Lawrence, Kansas. Importance was also placed on the mission of the
charities. A focus on families, children, and people in need - a
major theme in Supernatural - resonated with fans. As a result, two
deserving charities with strong missions to improve the lives of
people across the globe rose to the top of the list. The Lawrence
Community Shelter, which provides safe shelter and comprehensive
support services and programs that provide a path to a positive
future for people experiencing homelessness and people who are at
risk of homelessness, and SOS Children’s Villages, an international
charity operating in 132 countries and territories worldwide, will
receive donations through the website until September 1, 2007.
Lawrence is the hometown of the fictional Winchester family, two
brothers who travel the country searching for their lost father while
fighting supernatural threats on the TV show Supernatural (on the CW,
KCWE 29 or Sunflower channel 17 ).
