good morning!

Okay, so things are starting to come together, but I would like to get some fans to join me out here on the frontlines. As angstslashhope pointed out, online campaigns like this have a lot of trust issues, risk, etc., that go along with them. We have a few options at our disposal though:

1. Form a non-profit or professional fundraising organization, create the bank accounts, file the appropriate reports, etc.
2. Nominate no less than 5 members of the fandom to be the frontline people who will speak for the group and answer to the fandom regarding donations, communications, web site content, other promotional venues, charity choices, timing, etc.
3. Find an online fundraising venue that takes care of the non-profit side of things for us, but still gives us the flexibility of charity choice and ability for international donations. (May not exist.)

If there is another option, please let me know. angstslashhope pointed out a group called Youth Give, but they have a limited choice of charities to donate to, so while I like the concept, given the importance placed on freedom of choice early on in the comments, I don't think that is the right match. A few minutes of Googling did not turn up another online fundraising venue, but please let me know if you find one.

So please speak up and chime in. Which direction do you want to take?

If we are ready to go down the road of option two, please nominate someone (ideally) from the fandom you would trust to be a part of the campaign. If they aren't a member of the community yet, you might want to point them here. Once a nominee has multiple people seconding the nomination, (say at least 5?), I will ask them to join in. If you are nominated, you have the option of declining, of course.

For myself, I am willing to answer any question that relates to the campaigns and my involvement in them.

FEEDBACK?

ETA: More information is on the donate page and the about page now, too, to include donors and other online community links.
