Jason: Hey, good morning. This is Jason Todd, and I'm here to--
*crash*
--the hell was that?
Anduin: I'm sorry! I was trying not to step on any of the squirrels. They get a bit under foot, don't they?
Jason: Uh, do you mind? I'm trying to do the news here.
Anduin: Oh, are you one of the people who talks to us in the mornings? Do you like doing this? I was asking the squirrels all about it.
Jason: You were...asking the squirrels?
Anduin: Yes, I saw them with their little notebooks and I wondered what they were doing, and...well, it's all very fascinating, isn't it?
Jason: ...Not as fascinating as I think you think it is.
Anduin: Do you need any help?
Jason: No, I'm good, really.
Anduin: Are you certain? I'm a very good reader.
Jason: If I say no again, are you going to leave?
Anduin: Um, it seems as though there's room for more than one person in here. Perhaps I could stay and watch? Quietly?
Jason: ...I'm just going to go back to what I was doing and ignore you now.
School News
Jason: In the
Teamwork 101 class, the students got to
pair up and run an
obstacle course while tied together, which was exactly as frustrating as it sounds.
Karla and Chloe were picked to be the TAs for the class, and decided that their real job is to make sure our teachers don't kill each other. Considering how
Reno and Genesis looked after coming out of the obstacle course themselves - covered in feathers, which
Momoko couldn't help but comment on - uh, I think the girls might have their work cut out for them.
In the
Advanced Driver's Ed class, the students had to try to drive
while being shot at.
Anduin: What?!
Jason: What happened to sitting quietly?
Anduin: You just said people were shot!
Jason: Shot at. In a simulation.
Anduin: ...
Jason: It was fake. All for pretend, so people can learn. I'm sure it was totally safe, chill out.
Anduin: It isn't that cold in here--
Jason: Okay, you really need to stop talking now. Play with the squirrels or something. The
Science of Sexuality class talked about communication, and how it's important in a relationship, and the students
paired up to try to decide on good rules for a relationship.
Nathan and Cally talked about constant nudity as a rule, and whether or not you should get to know someone before sleeping with them. Nathan tried the nudity thing on
Helen too, but she claimed it was a little cold.
Anduin: Does she need to chill out?
Jason: Squirrels. Play. Go.
Ariel and Quinn talked about chivalry and how it fit into everything,
Rinoa tried to convince Warren that there really aren't rules for dating, and
Karla and I talked about whether or not our teachers really want to be there with us in the classroom.
In the
Fighting With Powers class, Max wanted to see what
the students were capable of, so everyone sparred
against him first, and then paired up to spar
against each other. And in
Getting Out of Tight Situations, the students
learned about gremlins, and then
waited their turn to
face off against a gremlin on their own.
In the
main office, the floor was covered in banana peels, so I guess you should be careful if you're going in there 'cause they might not be cleaned up.
Miss Porter was in her office, doing research and taking notes, and in the
library, William was reading about the history of the radio--hey, maybe you could go there now and look at what he was reading.
Anduin: I'm going to go to the library later. It's too early at the moment, and I'm rather enjoying watching you.
Jason: Yeah, 'cause that's not creepy at all.
Dorm Notes
Jason: All right, fine, you know what? You really are creeping me out just sitting there and watching. So here, I'm going to put you to work. Read these.
Anduin: Really?! All right! Let's see,
Caroline was hiding in her bed, in a terrible mood, and her demeanor wasn't helped much by the arrival of her roommate
Nathan. She complained to him that he'd left her a frightening message about vampire hunting, maybe while the telephones weren't acting right? But they cleared everything up and decided to go and have drinks together in the end. So, I suppose everything worked out then? That's awfully nice.
Lindsay was also in her room, enjoying a care package from home with cookies and a birthday card from her parents. Oh, maybe--
*microphone feedback*
Jason: Repeat after me: "I will never ask the squirrels to sing."
Anduin: But it was her birthday. What if no one else sang to her?
Jason: Dude, seriously.
Anduin: All right, I won't ask the squirrels to sing. Today.
Jason: I heard that!
Town News
Anduin: All right, moving on, yes? Ender was in the back of
Fixer-Uppers today, working on upgrading something called a laptop, Quinn was dealing with more aftermath of the telephones not working at the
Arms Hotel, Bod was enjoying some hot chocolate and reading a book at
the Perk, Angua was trying to get her coworker to admit that he makes up paperwork for her at the
Trooper Station, Makita was offering a discount at
Pixie Dust to anyone dressed as a git, whatever that is, Claudia was also working on her laptop thing at
Book Haven, and Dani ended up acquiring a Clydesdale at
the Gig. Did I do all right with those?
Jason: Yeah, that wasn't too bad. Maybe you don't totally suck at this.
Anduin: I'm going to take that as a compliment, thank you.
Jason: Of course you are. At the
Atlas Gym, John tried to convince Jaina that he wasn't bored, despite her catching him spinning around in his chair instead of working. Karla spent the first part of her shift at
Dite's in the back room, and came out looking a little shaken up, which doesn't sound good to me. When
Ender came by, she told him that she's spun a prophecy web, and it didn't have pleasant things to tell her. Man, this is why listening to prophecies and fate stories is never a good idea. No one ever hears pleasant things.
Anduin: Not every prophecy has a negative message to tell. Sometimes, it can be useful to know which path you're supposed to take on a journey.
Jason: Or, you can make your own path and ignore what's "supposed" to happen. Anyway, Lacey was cleaning the cash register like crazy at
Luke's Diner.
Angua came in and talked to Lacey about the new students and teachers, and about Lacey's date with Mr. Watson, who just so happened to
come in for a cup of tea after his class, which he assured Lacey didn't go as badly as last week's class. Yeah, and it wasn't as embarrassing for your students either.
Jono was distracting himself with music at
Groovy Tunes.
Lindsay came in to spend her birthday money, and ended up leaving with a job instead, since she loves music as much as Jono does.
Peter also came in, to brainstorm with Jono about what to do about their band now that Christian's gone. Apparently, they're going to ask Ino to be the lead singer, so it doesn't seem like the band is dead yet.
Speaking of Ino, she was trying to stay awake at
the clinic with hot chocolate, and at
Caritas, Jake was doing rainbow shots. I don't know what those are, but they sound good.
Kukaku came in looking for something cheap and good, which are two things that don't usually go together in alcohol, and ended up talking to Cally about teaching, and Cally's time as a student here.
Jake gave Kukaku a free drink, which I guess got her the cheap part, at least.
Cally ordered a virgin margarita, which led to a discussion with Jake on ordering real drinks in a bar, and not drinking when you're a parent. Jake did manage to convince
Jaina to do the rainbow of shots with him though, so he won at least one person over.
And those are all the notes for this morning.
Anduin: Do we have to go now?
Jason: Yes, we have to go, before you break something expensive trying to touch it the wrong way. Let's get out of here before that happens, okay?
