"Oh, sorry," Peyton offered when she almost ran into the other woman, and stopped moving all together. Between the conversation that Marie was having with Ami, the issue with that Sawyer guy, and Ivanova's explanations...Peyton just wanted to focus on something that didn't involve time travel, alternate universes, or aliens.

"I've never really been the camping type," she admitted after Lindsey told them he was never a boy scout. She had already told Daniel that she'd be willing to learn, which is what she's going to end up doing a lot of from the sound of things.

When Isabel arrived and told them how she got here, Peyton decided that she'd never complain about how she and the others got to be on the island. "Thank you," she offered a smile to Isabel and May both. "I'm Peyton..." She paused her little introduction there, turning her eyes to Ivanova again when the other woman gave her warning. Peyton's eyes scanned the group, but she knew the words weren't meant for her. She nodded when Ivanova said she'd come along.

She turned back to May. "I'm from L.A., so yeah...I know the...feeling..." Her eyes shifted over to where Ami was standing and talking to Ivanova. (Oh no...) She thought to herself, but it's really none of her business, so she turned her attention back to May. "I dunno, uhm...One of those tent things looks like it'd be easy to get together?" She pointed towards one of the tent-like structures.

Isabel tossed the basketball casually back toward the group.

"I grew up in Roswell, New Mexico," Isabel said. "And yes, an alien spacecraft did crash there. I was on it." She grinned. It was nice to be somewhere she could just tell people who she really was. "Tents aren't too hard, but you might not like it so much if there's a storm."

"That may be true," Blaise said, joining the group, "but if you happen to have a tent handy, they're awfully convenient." He and Daniel Jackson were sleeping in the one-man tents they'd packed as part of their gear when they stepped through the stargate. So had Powell, though he hadn't survived their arrival on the beach by more than an hour. Jon was currently using his tent.

"And if the tents blow away in a storm," Blaise continued, "which I suppose is entirely possible if we're still here when storm season comes along, well--we can always build new shelters then. And in the mean time they're a lot less work to maintain than most of the other shelters."

Blaise addressed Peyton. "Hi, Parker Blaise. You're Peyton, aren't you? Don't worry--you'll have help building a shelter for yourself. Between the lot of us we've acquired a lot of practice."

Peyton's eyes were practically glued on Isabel when she announced that she landed in Roswell by way of spacecraft. "You're an alien?" Peyton had to smile, and even laugh lightly. "So I guess the cheesy science fiction movies have it all wrong then, right?" She shook her head and absently wondered when all of this started making sense.

She glanced towards Ivanova again, but switched her attention to Blaise when he started talking. "I'm not really picky," she admitted with a shrug. "I don't have a tent handy, so whatever's easiest to build is fine."

She gave a nod at his question. "Yeah, Peyton Sawyer, actually...Uh, no relation to...That guy." She meant the guy that was giving George a hard time earlier. "And that's great, I'd really appreciate the help. Twigs and palm leaves, right?" She offered an awkward smile, though she's thankful that the people that were already on the island seem to want to help.

ENTER DEAN AND SAM

The brothers trudged back from the lagoon, each with a large palm-frond basket loaded with mussels. They'd left the volleyball game early to take care of their food-related chore of the day before it got too hot.

As they rounded a dune Dean and Sam stopped short, staring at the newcomers. "The hell?" Dean muttered. "Another portal open up and rain people on us again?"

Sam shrugged. "Maybe." That was pretty much how they'd arrived on the island.

Dean headed for the closest group of newbies, which conveniently included another blonde hottie. He called ahead, "Hey, Isabel! Blaise! Your new friends like shellfish? They're aphrodesiacs." He said the last with his most charming grin.

Sam sighed, but managed to not roll his eyes. "Just oysters, Romeo," he informed Dean. He waved and smiled at the others. "Hi. Don't mind my brother. He gets like... him." Sam set his basket down and stepped up to the group with Dean close behind. "Sam Winchester," he said, extending his hand.

Dean followed suit, "Dean Winchester. Older and wiser."

Peyton barely got her mouth open again, about ready to ask where she should set up camp, when there was yelling behind her. She turned and squinted her eyes a bit, watching the two guys coming closer.

She snickered at Sam's words about his brother, and she glanced at Dean briefly. "Peyton Sawyer," she took Sam's hand and shook it. "Kinda feel like I should have it tattooed across my forehead or something." It was meant as a joke.

She shook Dean's hand next, and her eyebrows popped up. "And I'm young-ish and confused," she admitted with a bit of a smile. "But...I've learned to just stop asking." Which wasn't entirely because of the mouthy teenager from earlier. "At least some of it's starting to...Kinda make sense."

Lindsey smiled. "Queens? I'd never have guessed," he said in response to May's introduction. Her accent, while not thick, wasn't hard to place.

He quipped an eyebrow as the girl named Isabel casually informed them that she was an alien who crash-landed in Roswell. Of all the weird things Lindsey had come to accept as real during his time at Wolfram and Hart and after, he had always regarded the whole Roswell mystery thing as a myth. ('Learning new things by the minute,') he thought to himself.

Lindsey was momentarily distracted by an argument that had broken out between Ivanova and another woman. They seemed to be arguing about telepathy. Lindsey had come across telepaths at the firm, and didn't care much for them. Of course, there the telpaths' job had been to scan the employees for thoughts of treason to the company, so that any potential traitors could be 'weeded out,' so to speak. But these people seemed OK, nowhere near as creepy, anyway. And the girl he had met earlier, River, was down right likeable, if a little strange.

Three more men joined them. Parker Blaise was the first, followed by two brothers.

"I'm Lindsey," he said, for what felt like the millionth time that day.

"I figure we should build whatever's easiest. We're bound to get off of this island at some point, right?" Lindsey added, returning to the topic of shelter-building.

"A lean-to is certainly the simplest and quickest shelter," Blaise said. "In a tropical environment like this you don't have to worry about keeping warm, which is good--but it lacks something in the privacy department."

"On the other hand," Blaise added mostly for Peyton's benefit since she seemed a little daunted by everything and everyone so far, "it's perfectly acceptable in the short term if you want to work on something more elaborate."

He glanced at Lindsey. "A more elaborate shelter might turn out to be a waste of effort, but it might not."

"It does give you something to live in while you build your proper accommodation," Isabel said. "Right now I know you all maybe think you're going to be leaving soon, but we've been here a while now - and I've not been here as long as some - and if you want to survive, if you want to live reasonably comfortably, you have to start planning in the long term."

She smiled at Lindsey, who appeared a bit surprised by her mentioning of the Roswell incident, and then looked to Peyton.

"As for cheesy science fiction movies... yes, they were just a little bit wrong. I'm a hybrid, hence the human look. Anatomically correct until you start looking at my cells under a microscope."

"And I'm young-ish and confused," Peyton quipped with a shy smile.

(The kid's all right,) Dean thought. (Out of her element, but dealing.)

Then there was Lindsey. The guy had the quiet confidence of a seasoned soldier, and not necessarily of the standard military variety. He warranted keeping an eye on. As long as he played nice, Dean had no problem with him.

Isabel's comment about being anatomically correct put a huge smile on Dean's face. So many double entendres; where to start? They all sounded kinda high school, so Dean settled for a flirtatious grin. He had a reputation to maintain.

"Why not build a lean-to to start, then add on to it later?" Sam suggested.

Dean nodded agreement, then gestured at the baskets of mussels behind them. "We gotta get these to the cooks. We'll give ya a hand, whatever you decide on."

"How did you get here," Sam asked, "and how many--"

"Dude!" Dean exclaimed. He'd noticed a man with *green skin* talking to her hottness Daisy. "That guy's green!"

"You want to be green?" Isabel asked. "I can make you green if you like," she offered, reaching for Dean's face with a hand.

((OOC: Yes it's short, but it sort of had to be said!))

"We're bound to get off of this island at some point, right?"

Peyton out-right stared at Lindsey for a good moment after he said that. "But, I thought no one knows about this island?" She bit her lower lip after the words slipped out, mostly because she didn't want to get into another trans-dimensional-time-travel-whatever conversation. She shook her head, and then looked to Isabel and Blaise. "A lean-to would work fine for me."

"I'm a hybrid, hence the human look." Isabel's words, for whatever reason, seemed to wipe away Peyton's worry for the time being, and she grinned again. "Wow..." She gave a soft laugh, but wasn't sure what else to say. She didn't want to offend, so she decided that shutting her mouth now would be good.

"That sounds like a good idea," she added after Sam's suggestion. "There were nine..." Peyton started to answer Sam's question, and smiled at Dean's reaction to Bill since it was pretty much the same one (minus the checking the skull for bumps) that she had when she first saw him. "That's Bill...He's from Iowa." As if that explained everything? She brought her eyes back to Sam. "We're not sure how we got here...We just woke up under this stone mushroom thing over there in the jungle." She pointed to where they came out of the jungle. "I think they're trying to figure it out."

Peyton grinned, but stepped out of Isabel's way when she offered to make Dean green. (Can they really do that?)

"But, I thought no one knows about this island?"

Lindsey considered this for a moment, then shrugged. "That might be true, but where there's a way in, there's a way out." This was something that had to be inherently true, even when magic was involved. What Lindsey didn't add was that sometimes the way out was much harder to find than the way in.

"A lean-to would suffice for me too," Lindsey said, responding in general to all the advice on shelter-building. "As for the long-term, I think I'd prefer to cross that bridge if I come to it." He knew it was a pretty cliche thing to say, but Lindsey wasn't prepared to accept the fact that building a shelter for the long-term might be necessary.

He watched with interest as Isabel offered (threatened?) to make Dean green, (What else can she do?) then laughed. "I think one green guy is enough, don't you? Besides, orange is a way better color for him."

Dean had laughed when Isabel offered to turn him green. Then he remembered how she'd turned that table yellow back at the bunker, and Lindsey suggested orange. "Whoa," Dean countered, taking a step back. "No one's turnin' anyone colors." He studied Isabel. "You can't do that, can you?"

Peyton shook her head and smirked a bit. "I'm gonna go over and hear what Daniel has to say." She motioned over to the group, and headed that way.

Lindsey turned and noticed for the first time that there was a group congregating around Daniel. It seemed to be the start of some sort of palaver. Not wanting to miss out on the potential information gathering, he decided the shelter construction would have to wait a little longer.

"Me too," he said, and followed suit.

EXIT LINDSEY
