Fandom Helps is a community similar in nature to fandom_gives. The difference between us and them is simply that Fandom Helps is here to enter as a group for Blogathon 2007!

Blogathon, for those who don't know, is a yearly event to raise funds for the charity of the blogger's choice. You sign up, denote your charity, and then, on the Blogathon date, post an entry every thirty minutes for twenty-four hours! It's crazy fun, and helps to raise money for the worthy causes dearest to your heart.

There are people out there, though, that don't have the funds to sponsor someone or don't have the time to do the Blogathon themselves. For these people, fandom_helps was created!

Blogathon allows you to participate as a group blog, you see. This way, a group can take it in shifts, different people posting for a single united effort. That way, the goal still gets met, but no one person has to shoulder the burden alone!

Another thing that marks fandom_helps as a slightly different group is the method of posting we're going to take up. Because this is a fandom event, what we're going to be doing for our charity of choice is trading off fandom-related things!

What's Acceptable To Post:

1. Prompts for drabbles, ficlets, fics, icons, music videos, etc. Because Blogathon specifically forbids pre-generated content, all prompts must be posted on the spot during the twenty-four hours of Blogathon.

2. Reponses to those prompts! Because of the nature of Blogathon's content rules, that means absolutely everything you post is going to be off-the-cuff. If you can write something, obtain a beta, and get it posted, all on the same day, then that's okay, but don't be worried if you can't. Whatever you are able to write in that time is acceptable. :-)

3. Quotes from and reminiscinces about your favorite shows. Try to be original and not say stuff you've said over and over a million times. As long as you are typing it up fresh, not Copy/Pasting from a previous entry on your own LJ, it counts.

4. Recs/reviews for your favorite fics, as long as you have not reviewed them before and your review is a fresh one, written just for this event.

5. Meta or essays about any fandom-related topic you can think up, as long as you're writing it during the twenty-four hours of Blogathon.

6. Anything fandom-related you can think up, as long as it's non-inflammatory and written during the twenty-four hours of Blogathon!

Rules

1. No flames. C'mon, guys; this is for charity. Let's all play nice.

2. Absolutely NO content that wasn't specifically created during the twenty-four hours of Blogathon. That kind of thing gets you kicked out of Blogathon, and we want to make a difference here!

3. Because this is multifandom, that means that there's going to be stuff people aren't going to get. Please try to accept this going in. No wanking. Seriously.

4. If you do write fic/ficlets/drabbles, please remember to label any content that might offend some people's sensibilities (rape, incest, slash, violence, spoilers--use your imagination) and use LJ-cut.

5. If you contribute more than five icons in a single post, please use LJ-cut.

6. Be sure to label any contributions you make with the fandom it's from, just so people who aren't in the know can breeze past or indulge their curiosity as needed.

Sign-ups start now, and there will be a poll on July 1st to determine what charity we as a group will be working to support. Blogathon 2007 starts on July 28th, 2007, and ends exactly twenty-four hours later. A list of what time it starts in each timezone will be made available prior to the event.

Feel free to pimp the hell out of this, as without members and sponsors, this ain't gonna work.
