We've verified that all the charities listed here and on the sidebar take overseas donations.
And now for the details:
- The trickiest one is The Premier's Disaster Relief Fund, which has now raised $130,422,206. For International donations you must donate through a bank. Instructions are here.
- The Australian Red Cross now has a separate Victorian appeal.
- If you would like to donate to the Queensland clean-up, then pull down "Disaster relief and recovery - Australia".
- If you are donating from outside Australia, select first "outside Australia", then your country.
- The Salvos have two website donation pages:
- If you live in Australia, use this Salvo website.
- If you're anywhere else use this Salvation Army website which also takes Paypal.
- Note for the International donors to the SA: you must give a specific use (Queensland, Victoria, Australia) or they will use it where they feel the need is greatest.
- Lifeline is no problem. Just make sure you choose "other" for your state if you're not living in Australia.
- The RSPCA has a Queensland Appeal. They also have a toll free number (US and Canada) if you run into problems with the site.
- Jewish Aid Australia is concentrating on Queensland. Type "Floods" in the special message box if your donation is for the JAA Floods Appeal.
Work out where you'd like to donate then click away. Make sure you keep either a copy of the receipt (take a screencap) or the emailed receipt for verification (explanation will come when bids close).
Personal note: The Premier's Fund monies are NOT going to Victoria. If you'd like to help Victorian flood victims, you'll need to choose another charity.
