FTEC -- Saturday [May 23]

May 23, 2009 10:01

She’d been half-tempted (okay, more than half) to call in and switch her shift around to the evening one just so she could spend more time up in the air when Ino had realized that, really, the notebooks she was using were rather impractical for really being useful for a full coast-line map. Even at her scale, it was a rather lot of pages, all ( Read more... )

"Alright," she said, scooping up a medical chart. "Sit on the bed and I'll see what I can do."

Edward sat as directed and folded his hands upon his lap. "It is a dreadful thing, a broken nose. I cannot sniff."

Sigh.

Her lips quirked.

"It can't be too broken," Ino said soothingly, "if you're here because you can't sniff. What happened to you? How'd you get all those bruises? Let me look at them."

He wondered if he could distract Ino as well as he could Adora?

"You are very tiny."

It was a start.

And he held himself still so she could look.

"I am," she said solemnly, eyes dancing as she inspected his nose, and the rest of his face. "But that doesn't answer the question, please."

"What was the question, please?" he asked with a pout, and big blue puppy dog eyes.

"Do you sing, Ino?"

"If you're trying to distract me," she informed him, "better people than you have failed." Though the look was a really good addition.

"I can sing," Ino said, "though I doubt I'd want to make a living out of it." Pretty much, she had a perfectly average voice and was happy with that. "How did this happen?"

Was she saying he wasn't a better person? Woe.

But there was a small gasp. "You are the first person to tell me that since I've been here. Perhaps you would care to sing a duet?" Blink. "When my voice is normal once more, that is. Someone's fist slammed into my face."

It was the ugly truth.

Perhaps better was the wrong word? Maybe... more clever people, instead! Ino was not going to laugh at him, no really, she wasn't. His way of speaking was charming though.

"Do you want me to fix your whole face?" Ino asked, once the urge to laugh had subsided. "Um. A duet? I... suppose, I guess I could? I'm not fantastic though, just so you understand that."

Edward, poor boy, had no idea he was a source of amusement.

While it hurt to do so, he beamed at her. "Oooh, that would be lovely. To fixing my whole face and the duet."

Wait. He cocked his head. "Pardon me, my lady, did you say my whole face?"

Was that possible?

She'd consented to a duet with a crazy person! Alrighty then.

"Your whole face," Ino said, nodding and pulling back. "Your poor eyes and that lip looks sore. It's a... skill. I can heal people."

Well, of injuries at this level, it was no problem.

Ah, yes she did!

He sighed in relief; the whole of him relaxing at the knowledge of being healed.

"I will pay you handsomely, dear one, I swear it."

"No payment needed," she said quickly, "I'm working here because I want to work here."

Well, because Cable-san had ordered her to, but shhh.

"Close your eyes, okay?" Ino said. "It'll probably tingle a bit, like... leaves brushing your face, you know? ... while I work, but it won't take longer than a few minutes."

He nodded, pleased, and closed his eyes.

"Perhaps you could sing to me while you heal me," he suggested quietly.

It was worth a shot, yes?
