FTEC -- Saturday [May 23]

May 23, 2009 10:01

She’d been half-tempted (okay, more than half) to call in and switch her shift around to the evening one just so she could spend more time up in the air when Ino had realized that, really, the notebooks she was using were rather impractical for really being useful for a full coast-line map. Even at her scale, it was a rather lot of pages, all ( Read more... )

Mind the paper, or Ino will yell.

Prince Edward decided he didn't want a crooked nose anymore. He could deal with the cut cheek and the split lip and tongue. Even the two black eyes and purple and black bruises covering his nose. But the crookedness had to go.

So there he was, looking pitiful, wearing the sunglasses and hat Hannibal lent him.

"Greetings," he said nasally. "I am searching for some help, please."

Ino's head snapped up at the sound of his voice. "What happened to you?" she asked, setting her pens aside and getting to her feet. "You look..."

Well. He probably knew how he looked.

"Yes, I know," he replied quietly. He was well aware that he looked terrible.

He pulled off his sunglasses and hat.

"My nose is crooked. Could it possibly be repaired?"

Woe.

Okay, he looked worse now, but Ino wasn't going to say that.

"Come on," she said, exuding confidence while slipping from behind the desk, as she mentally reviewed what she knew of nose injuries, "that should definitely be doable. Let's get you into an exam room, shall we?"

Triela hadn't actually been to the clinic before, but like most things on the island she knew where it was. She'd been thinking about Dinah's suggestion, and she'd finally gotten up the courage to try it.

Not that she'd put it that way. If asked she'd just say this was the first time she'd found the time.

Whatever the reason she pushed the door open and looked around. When she spotted Ino she relaxed a bit. The other girl would probably understand the situation better than most people.

"Hey."

Ino raised one eyebrow, finishing her line and marking her place on the notebook before glancing up.

"Hey," she said, crossing her legs and studying the map after a quick glance showed no signs of Triela being injured. Was this a social visit? That was weird.

If it were a social visit that would indeed be weird.

But Triela's not how to bring up the reason she was actually at the clinic so she grinned. "How have you been?" She wasn't actually any good at small talk.

Ino was... even more dubious about this now.

No, really. What?

"I'm okay," she said, shrugging nonchalantly. "Busy with stuff, you know how that goes. How 'bout you?"

"Pretty good. Not as busy as I'd like to be."

She was really bad at small talk so she really should bite the bullet and explain why she was here.

Triela took a deep breath and forced herself to get it out. "A while back someone suggested that I should come by and sort of... go over my physical requirements if I ever ended up injured here on the island." She grimaced. "I have bad reactions to a number of drugs and there are quite a few standard medical procedures that won't work on me. Dinah said it would be good if the clinic had some of the details on file. Just in case."

Considering that the last time they'd talked, Triela had said she was going to find a way to ambush her, Ino thought she was perfectly justified in not being super thrilled at seeing her.

Hearing the reason for the visit, though, made things make much more sense.

"Alright," she said, realizing that for some reason today had something against her maps and she was actually working at the clinic. Ino glanced questioningly at her. "An exam room is more private, if you'd rather not have the squirrels report every single thing."

"That would probably be best," Triela nodded. She managed a wry sort of grin. "I think it's going to be hard enough to talk about without the witnesses."

Ino nodded, mostly the professional clinic person (still with attitude, alas, but Ino would probably die with attitude) now and got to her feet. "Right this way then."
