FTEC, Sunday Day and Evening Shifts, June 22

Jun 22, 2008 10:34

When Doogie heard Hades' announcement, he'd thought about leaving, just for a minute. Then he thought about what the people on the island liked to do when they were threatened, and realized that he might be needed here. He was disappointed to find that the clinic already had one patient, but was relieved too, to see that there weren't more.

"You can go see him," Doogie said, motioning to the first exam room. "But you should know that he's not responsive right now. He's getting better though."

Deadpool had three people with him. Deadpool had walked with them from the damn pit into Tartarus.

Deadpool was not happy.

"Lil' help?"

Doogie got wide-eyed and rushed out to help him. "Oh my God. What happened?"

"Polo accident. It was horrible. Clubs flying this way and that!"

A beat.

"What do you think happened?! It was the whole epic event that will change the island as we know it!"

"I meant more specifically," Doogie said, looking to the girls first. "We should get them moved into rooms so I can take a closer look. Are you hurt?"

"Only by cruel cruel words," Deadpool said. "She got thrown into a wall--" He nodded toward Lois.

He looked at Adah. "And she's... maybe something for nerves?"

The ants were gone; it was pretty clear that there wasn't even a body of water inside the damn clinic (which she never should have left!) for her to drown in so, while the sojourn over from...whatever the hell she was pun intended...had cleared one part of her mind a little (she still was feeling like her skin, untouched, was covered in bites that still burned), the other part, the broken part, had kept going. Synapses fired with abandon; her muscles responded, continuing to make her body flip-flop between twitching and becoming almost too stiff to continue holding on. Of course she knew what it was; both pains, the imagined and the real, were extreme, but nothing she couldn't see through and self-diagnose. The problem was that her half-brain was so addled that she couldn't even get her jaw to keep from clenching to say what it was. She clenched her eyes shut tightly because she could, because maybe she could start somewhere with regaining the control over herself that she hadn't had for two days, but only ended up releasing ( ... )

Doogie frowned softly at Adah. "If you can get her," he said, pointing to Lois, "into Exam Two, I can get Adah into Exam Three, and have the nurses take care of the gentleman," he said. That might have made more sense in his head, but he hoped not.

"Can do." Deadpool paused, juggling people for a moment. "Uh... you might wanna take care of him... he got banged up pretty bad."

Not that he was worried or anything.

Really.

"I will, I promise," Doogie said, getting to work.

Dawn (and Andrew) were finally out of the Underworld. Or Hell. Whichever, they were there. She placed him into a chair, then went to the desk, out of breath.

"Hello?"

Doogie came out from one of the exam rooms and gave the girl a weak smile. "Hi there. Can I help you?"

Dawn just pointed to Andrew. "Him, not me."

Andrew would have waved, but being fairly certain he was about to drift off into the afterlife, he just sat there and tried not to slide out of the chair.
