Clinic Hours - Friday November 11th 2005

Nov 11, 2005 09:11

Wilson had coffee and he had a crossword puzzle today. It was Friday after all!

The beloved Jamacian Blue Mountain was perking in the pot behind him and he looked vaguely relaxed as he sat at the desk and worked on the puzzle. The Clinic was open.

Doctor on Duty, if you need to come bleed or otherwise steal coffee from him.

Where the front desk and the sign in sheet reside, Wilson is usually found here.

Sam walked in, holding two cups of coffee. "Morning, Doctor Wilson. Coffee?"

Wilson looked up from his crossword and smiled warmly to her, warmer still when he saw she was bringing him a coffee offering.

"You bring the sweetest sacrifices, Samantha. Here to see Jack?"

She winced, but still handed him the coffee. "Call me Sam, Doctor Wilson. Please."

"How's he doing, anyway? I'm really worried about him--for him to be out this long...it's really unusual."

[ooc: There's been no word from Jack-mun for days, so unless you know something I don't, he's probably either worse or the same.]

Taking the coffee, he bowed his head slightly to acknowledge her desire and then frowned gently, leaning back in the chair.

"He was pretty run down, Sam. The ribs, the broken collarbone, not sleeping well and he ran himself hard into the ground with the pneumonia. Despite his impression of invincibility, he wrecked his body pretty good so while I am not unconcerned I am not entirely surprised that he hasn't bounced back as quickly as one might expect."

Sam closed her eyes. "He does give that impression, doesn't he?"

She'd known he was pushing himself, but was so used to having to work through the pain and regular medical check-ups that she hadn't really thought about addressing it.

"He is going to get better, isn't he? Is my being here so often making him worse?" Jack O'Neill was not above putting on an act for her, even if it meant his health would suffer. The stubborn ass.

Setting the coffee down on the desk, Wilson reached forward and gently closed his fingers around her wrist in a gentle gesture of support.

"Sam, I honestly believe your not being here would make him worse. He's going to put up a front whether you're here or not, he'll do it for me, for House for whoever treats him, that's the way he is. Just...don't stretch yourself so thin that you land in here with him as well, okay?"

Sam smiled at the doctor. "Okay, then. You're the doctor and I'll trust you on this one. And I won't stretch myself too thin at least not right this minute."

She held up her school bag. "I've brought homework and I'll be multi-tasking, and I promise to take it easy this weekend--no loud parties."

Wilson grinned and sat back, he'd take her at her word for the time being but keep an eye on her over the next few days. It was emotionally exhausting to be caring for a sick friend, worrying and not knowing. It had to be taking a toll.

"All right but if I have to uncuff myself to come out and tell you four to hold it down, I'm going to be a mite put out."

"Four?" She decided that discretion was the better part of not embarrassing both of them and didn't ask about the uncuffing part.

"You, Janet, Parker and Jack?"

She was, most wise.

"Are they here, too?" Sam glanced quickly around the waiting room and listened for either Janet or Parker yelling at Jack.

Wilson blinked then shook his head.

"Nooh...I was refering to the visit you three conducted last week."

"Oh." She blushed. "Yeah, um, sorry about that. It got a little crazy. I'll be good, I promise."

Smiling he gave a slight nod of his head.

"Just, try to keep it a little more under control. I want him to have visitors but I don't want him straining himself by being rambunctious. Anyway, go on back, give me a yell if you need anything."

"I will. Thank you, Doctor."

She walked back to Jack's room and took her familiar seat, pulling out her notebook full of equations for her independent study.

He didn't wake up.
