FTEC - Monday Day Shift 7/16

Jul 16, 2007 08:12

Wilson headed into the clinic to get caught up on any new arrivals and patients still in care. It was more than a bit distressing to see how busy the place had gotten since Saturday and after some discussion, he posted the nurse at the front desk and headed back to do rounds.

Somewhere during the night, Mary realized two important things. One, she's not in Las Vegas. Two, Gunther was in charge of her hotel while she was out of commission. She needed to get back there ASAP and make sure that he didn't burn the place down and see how bad the damage was from the dinosaurs.

Now, if only she could figure out how to get out of this bed without being overwhelmed by dizziness.

Stan appeared by her bedside, looking to see how she was this morning.

"Hey you," said Mary, smiling weakly.

"How are you today? Looks like you had a rough night," he said, indicating water on the table if she needed it.

"I've been better," said Mary. "How long have I been here?"

"Overnight," he replied. "Nasty bit of a head wound and a good gash on your leg. Kept you overnight for observation." He looked at her, in a more serious, professional manner. "I take it that wasn't from Gunther's latest experimental dish."

"What day is it?" Mary asked. The last thing she remembered clearly is pouring her drink on Barney's suit Friday night.

"Monday morning," he said, reading her face for concern or relief. "Do you remember what happened?"

Mary wrinkled her nose. "What happened to Saturday?"

"Dinosaurs?" he suggested. "Did you oversleep? Take any medications or alcohol? Maybe Gunther spiked lunch?"

He suggested that last one to lighten the mood.

"I ordered a club soda," said Mary. "I poured my drink on him because he called me a lemon, and then I was so mad that I went to the park to cool off..."

Mary tried to sit up. "There was a dinosaur in the park," she said excitedly. "It was huge, so I thought that if anything like that came near the hotel, I'd see or hear it first."

"Did it aapproach the hotel? What kind of dinosaur was it?" He fetched her another pillow, should she insist on sitting up.

"I took a picture with my camera phone. I wanted to sent it to Mike Cannon," said Mary, sitting upright now that she had two pillows to prop her up. "I don't think I dinosaur did this, though," she added, turning down the blanket so she could get a better look at the claw marks on her leg.

There was something else that she couldn't quite remember. What was it? "Am I a lemon?" she asked Stan, looking worried.

"I'm not a zoologist, but anything that made that was certainly not friendly."

"Are you a lemon?" he repeated. "In what context?" Okay, maybe she had been watching too many underwear ads.

Ordinarily, Mary could be really focused on the task at hand. It was a good thing to have in an event planner. However, Mary with a concussion couldn't remember what she has been talking about 30 seconds ago.

"We're going to have afternoon tea at the hotel on Saturday," she told Stan. "Gunther was baking scones when I left."
