Phoebe was awake, but trying to be very quiet because she knew if she let the boys know she was in pain, it would upset them. So, she kept pretending to be asleep.

Cole had returned to the chair to make sure Phoebe would sleep comfortably through the night. He clasped her hand in his, though, and didn't let go.

As long as she felt him nearby, she was okay. Feeling him holding her hand was one of the few things that kept her calm, and she finally stopped trying to pretend she was sleeping and opened her eyes.

Phoebe smiled a little, squeezing his hand. "I'm okay. Worried 'bout you, though."

"Nothing to worry about, love," Cole said. "I'm fine. I just want you to get better."

Phoebe still looked worried. "You're not getting rest, sweetheart."

Phoebe looked at him sadly. "Cole, I already feel guilty that I didn't sense he was there and warn you guys..."

Anders was awake but quiet, and groggy from painkillers, so he was reclining propped up against his pillows, his eyes half-closed; every now and then he'd shift onto his side or his stomach for a little while, when his back started to object to the pressure.

"He did, a little bit," Anders said in a raspy voice. "Still twinges some when I lie on it too long, though."

He studied her face for a moment but didn't have the presence of mind to read anything from it, so he asked, "Feeling better today, baby?"

Phoebe nodded slowly. "Wyatt made it where I can move onto one side without passing out from the pain," she said with a smile. "He managed to heal alot of the damage to my back.

Anders looked unmistakably relieved at that. "You were looking a lot more comfortable, yeah."

He scowled up at the IV pole, still with bags of fluid attached to it and running into his arm through their tubes, then shrugged, climbed out of his bed, and climbed in beside her, dragging the pole with him. "Got tired of not being able to snuggle," he said sheepishly.
