Annette was sleeping deeply. Probably better for her than laying awake, feeling any pain or discomfort at all.

Dick had gotten Nadia's handwavy message when he had woken up to find himself alone. He rushed down to the clinic to see her.

Now he didn't know whether to poke her to wake her up or to just sit and wait...Hey! Tongue depressors! Cool!

Annette groaned and rolled herself over on her right side, blinking the room into focus.

Dick took the tongue depressor he was playing with out of his mouth and focused his attention on Annette. "Morning sunshine!"

"What the hell happened? Did I kick someone's ass and lose?"

"I heard on the radio last night there was some crap going on at the church." he said quietly. "You remember anything about that?"

"No. Doesn't sound too..." Annette closed her eyes and winced when she lifted her hand to rub at her eyes. "I think I might have been at the church. Crap. I don't know."

"I've got stitches in my head, I dislocated a shoulder, and cracked a rib." She tried to smile. "It's nothing, don't worry about it."

"Wow, that's way worse than what happened to me." said Dick. "You sure you don't remember how it happened?"

"We were sleeping, weren't we? I don't even remember getting up, or leaving. I think I was at the church but I just can't remember right now." Annette's head was pounding. "I need some medicine. I need something to take this pain away. It hurts really bad."

"You rang?" Elliot asked dryly from the doorway -- she had been checking patient rooms and overheard Dick. "How are you doing, Annette?"

"I'm sorry," Elliot said, leaning over to look at Annette's bandages. "But yeah, that'll happen after ... whatever you did to yourself. Awake is good, anyhow."

She handed Annette two small white pills and a paper cup of water. "That should help the hurting and let you stay awake," she said. "And would you prefer juice, ginger ale or a bottle of water for the thirsty? We could also give you some clinic food if you're hungry, but if I were you I'd send my boyfriend to Luke's for takeout first."
