After Chaucers.... oatmanspatient October 19 2005, 14:51:20 UTC
Marty stumbles into the clinic looking like he had the crap beaten out of him. He rings the service bell and leans up against the counter.

Wilson surfaced after a few minutes from one of the rooms, paused and stated the obvious.

"Who the hell used you for a punching bag?"

Marty isn't in the mood. Nor is he talking about it.

"Fell down last night. I think I cracked a couple of ribs."

"Fell down? How many times?" Wilson shot back dryly but waved it away just as quickly.

"Come on. Let me take a look. Anything besides the ribs? Head, nausea, vomitting?"

Marty shakes his head. "Took a couple of knocks to the head, but no side effects. Bunged up my knee a little."

"Right or left? We'll give that a look also."

Wilson motioned Marty towards the exam table, he'd picked up the man's file and had it flipped open to put in additional notes. For the moment, he grabbed up a stethescope and moved towards the man.

"Can you take off your shirt please? Easier to check on the ribs."

Marty gingerly takes off his shirt, wincing a little.

"Left knee. Right side on the ribs"

Nodding, Wilson ran through the ususals, heart rate, blood pressure...all the goodies before setting the stethescope against Marty's chest and back, asking him to breath each time.

He did a visual scan of the bruising, moving to a gentle physical examination of the indicated rib area.

"Any particularly tender areas where I'm pressing?"

Marty winces at one particular site. "Yeah. Hurts to breathe a when I take deep breaths."

[OOC: Can I assume he won't be made to stay in the clinic all day? Just so I can post elsewhere post visit?.]

[ooc: Oh yeah, Wilson will strap him up and boot him out the door, no more than...1 hour, 2 if you throw some complications into the mix. :)]

"Yeah? A stabbing pain? Like in a specific spot or just an all over ache when your rib cage is forced to expand?"

"All over ache," Marty says, wincing again at Wilson's prodding.

"Okay, that will probably ease when I strap up your ribs but if at any time it becomes localized and stabbing, come back to the Clinic immediately."

If Marty didn't like the prodding, he was going the hate the strapping...but he would feel better once it was done.

"Right. Localized and stabbing. Just ibuprofen for the pain?"

Marty holds up his arms in preparation for the strapping.

Wilson set about the work with quick competance. Something told him he was going to be doing this...a lot.

"Yep and try not to get these bandages wet. Not only will they itch like mad, they can also shrink and you like oxygen I believe, yes?"

Marty nods in understanding and grunts a couple of times while Wilson straps him up.

"Anything else I should know?"

"They're going to hurt like a bugger for awhile and as much rest as you can get in will be about the only thing that will help speed along the process of healing."

Finishing off the strapping, he stepped back and looked towards the knee.

"Okay...define 'bunged up' in regards to your knee?"
