FTEC - Wednesday Day Shift [1/17]

Jan 17, 2007 10:58

It was cold Wednesday morning, which was part of the excuse Wilson used to tuck his arm through Aziraphale's and walk very closely as they made their way down from the house to the clinic. He was sharing warmth with the angel you see...the angel who still didn't have a heavy winter coat ( Read more... )

Cally was still completely out of it. She had flowers, a thermos of now sadly cold soup, and a stuffed monkey... but not consciousness. She still looked horrible, but that really wasn't going to change overnight.

Annette was quiet when she entered, especially seeing that Cally was still out of it.

Last night she had snapped a picture of Poe with her polaroid camera; taking this from her pocketbook, she taped it to Cally's monitor, out of the way, but still visible to her if she woke. It was a cute picture. Poe's face was pressed against his cage and his little beady eyes were staring directly into the camera.

Looking down at Cally, Annette whispered, "Get well soon, Cally. I'll try to come back again this evening." She smoothed her hand over her arm and then left.

While Wilson was busy at the front desk, Aziraphale slipped back into the exam room to visit with Cally for a few moments. He had a cup of tea, which mostly he just set on the bedside table for the pleasant scent. He didn't say anything, just sat quietly for a few minutes, frowning a little. Then he smoothed Cally's blanket, making sure she was properly tucked in, and touched her hand before heading back out into the lobby.

Teddy set the giant bunch of flowers up next to the bed. "Told you I'd bring some," He told Cally, kinda hoping she'd wake up an make fun of the terrible arrangement of flowers, but, of course, nothing happened.

He gave her hand a small squeeze before leaving again to get back to work.

Cameron quietly snuck into the room after his conversation with Wilson. He looked at the things around the bed and wished he'd thought of bringing something.

"You're getting good at freaking people out, you know?" he said after a while, hovering near the foot of her bed. "I let Veronica know what happened and she's going to come and visit so you better be awake by then."

He walked to the side and reached over, carefully squeezing her hand. "I'll talk to you soon," he promised before slipping out of the room again.

Lana came in quietly very early in the morning. She sat down next to Cally and talked to her quietly for a little while, encouraging her and trying to sound as comforting as possible. She stayed for an hour or so, touching her hand or shoulder very gently on occasion as she talked.

Per Henry's request, Wilson set up the flowers the young man dropped off that morning in Cally's room. He wrote down who they were from on a card and added it to the arrangement so that Cally would know who had stopped by to ask after her.

Cally was still there when Mac would be getting back from her second class of the day.

[ooc: Locked to Mac and Dr. Wilson, please]

After all the time she'd spent in here yesterday, Mac had thought she'd be used to seeing Cally like this. She wasn't at all, really, and winced a little out of habit at the bruises as she made her way over.

She rubbed her fingers across the back of Cally's hand gently. "If you want brownies, you better wake up soon," she warned. Subtle bribery might work, you never knew. "I'll eat them all without you otherwise."

"Ishn't it a lil early for brownies?" Her words were slightly stunted, given the swelling and the fact her jaw had been wired shut.

But now, she was awake.

It took Mac a moment to respond, she hadn't honestly been expecting to get an answer.

She stared for a second, then grinned huffing a laugh in relief and shook her head. "Nuh-uh." Mac stifled the urge just to reach over and hug her, for the sake of Cally's bruises. She squeezed the hand beside her, though. "Hearing your voice, has officially become the best part of today," she said.

"It has?" Cally looked around, a little confused. "...why am I in the clinic? And why can't I move my mouth?"

"Yeah. You--" Mac paused, looking a little uncomfortable. "You don't remember anything?" she asked carefully, not sure how she should go about this, or if telling her everything straight off was really a good idea.

"I finished my homework last night," Cally said. "I... thought I jusht fell asleep after."

"Not exactly," Mac said slowly, wondering if maybe she should go and get Doctor Wilson. Not remembering things was generally a trauma related thing and she was all about doing the right thing about that at this point.

After a second, Mac decided just to spit it out. "You've been in here unconscious for a couple of days, almost," she said.
