Tommy checked on Tyler when he showed up for his shift. Poor kid. Burns were a bitch and a half to deal with.

He made sure Tyler was comfortable, then took a seat by his desk.

Pip kicked the door open carrying an unconcious Nadia on his shoulders. "I need help here!"

"She was attacked by... a vampire and an unreasonably strong person. I'm not sure what the extent of her injuries are, but she's been unconcious since I saw her."

"Bring her over to the bed," Tommy said, pointing the way. "Did the asshole get blood off her?"

"No. I was there the whole time and that's the one thing those two hellions didn't do."

He sat down and began the laborious process of peeling off the remains of his duct tape cocoon.

Pip carried Nadia and laid her gently down on the bed. He pulled out a pocket knife. "Should I cut off the duct tape bindings on her chest?"

He glanced at her duct taped arm. There was nothing for that save a good rip.

"Their version of manacles," Edmund said sourly, still peeling.

"I've had kinkier," Tommy said. To Pip he said, "Okay, kid, move away and let me look at her. If she's got anything broken I don't want you jostling it."

Tommy hauled a light over so he could examine her closely. Noticing the extent of the damage to her entire body, he turned to Pip and Edmund and said, "Okay, you two can go wait in the waiting room. I'll take care of her."

"That's fine with me." Edmund was still disgustedly peeling duct tape off himself and muttering about kids who read too many penny dreadfuls.

Pip nodded and retreated into the waiting room, where he pulled out a cell phone.

He had a phone call he needed to make.

Once he and Nadia were alone, Tommy pulled the curtain around the bed closed for privacy. He leaned down to watch her face carefully. "Sweetheart? Can you hear me?"
