MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD.
hopefully the damned cuts will work. I am without a doubt utterly completely numb. I've gone through anger and distress and had a sleepless night -- and am just stunned beyond anything.
I ... well...
It was like a nightmare in the last third of the book. I'm not even sure what I feel about the writing itself. I feel so distressed at the Black-and-Whiteness of it all -- at the disgusting unexplained glossed-overness of it all!! ok, Let me just start somewhere.
We start off different great! "Yay" show Snape and Voldemort and the ewwyness of them.
Then zoom to Harry wherein he's reading the paper where in people are speculating about Albus Dumbledore -- Saint or sinner? (shrug) He's gone! Then Skeeter of all people (laugh) is writing a bio about him with "special enformants" (Snort)
They talk about Albus having a dark past and possibly being involved with the deaths of his mother and sister -- all this evidence she's gathered and Bla Bla...Unbelievable right? We all no Skeeter is nothing but a gosup who never says anything true?
We troop along and hedwig and Moody die. Bill gets married, Ron and Hermione are really Brilliant and then ... the wedding gets attacked and everyone's warned just in time.
Our little trio escapes with Harry and Ginny having had one more disgusting moment and Ron being a prat -- make up your mind he's either a friend or not. He actually had me fearing for his sanity.
I think the coolist part of the book was the less than legal radio show the twins and lee jordon put together. They reported on all the things the ministry wouldn't -- a ministry that was taken over in the first 10 chapters.
The book title...comes from a little triangle that represent a wand,a stone and a cloak.
Ah Crum makes an appearance too lol he has such a fit when he sees Luna's dad with this little triangle around his neck.
Creature the disgusting houseelf is turned into a marter almost. Turns out Regulus bound him into keeping quiet about how he stole the locket.
Then there's a couple of boring chapters where they do nothing but argue and speculate...then discover that it is the horcrux they've been passing around exaserbating their negative emotions. There is this pretty cool break into the ministry that if it had been done by older and wizer people wouldn't have fallen apart. They did get the locket in the end but their use of #12 was compromised.
Dobbie dies I sobbed like a baby that happens later though. I know he drove me crazy but it was so pointless.
We discover that Albus Dumbledore was best friends with Grindolwald and together they were going to usher in this little utopia for wizardkind. The problem was that Albus had a very sick little sister -- that noe he didn't kill -- we're not sure who did except that albus, his brother and Grindowald (blond you know) think she has a thing against blonds? were fighting and one of their spells hit her. All these little tidbits are found throughout the book. Albus finally went and faught his old buddy but didn't actually kill him just locked him up somewhere. Old Tom killed him but never got what he wanted from him.
Oh damn! I can't even be cohearent Snape dies and Fred dies and lupin and Tonks. Neville should but doesn't -- can't explain that one.
Albus is a stupid mean fuck. I just ... he used Snape and didn't care. He was going to sacrifice Harry -- who yes was a horcrux. Reading fanfic much? ok so yes that was sarcasm.
We see How Snape and Lilly were best friends from even before hogwarts and the fifthyear prank kind of ruined that.
OK, I guess what has me so angry is the ending. ...and they all lived happily ever after. I fucking swair to god. Harry and Ginny Ron and Hermione. Even Draco... And Harry names his kid Albus Severus -- and even19 years later people are afraid of Slytherin house even if Snape lived a lie his entire life even after Albus died -- and yes, all that fandom speculation about them planning the event was true --to protect Lilli's child and even if Sev begged Albus to do something he was just like well they trusted the wrong person. Harry just forgives him no problem. There's this big conversation between them where Albus tells Harry he new all this might happen and that he really should go back to finish it.
This after Voldemort hits him with the killing curse again.
I will say the book will make one spectacular movie. There are scenes that will look lovely on screan. In particular, there's a section where Panzy wants to give Harry to Voldemort and the entire school (save Slytherin of course) stand up to get between them all. Rather stupid how the hell does an entire house stay evil does that mean one fourth of the wizarding population is evil? That just enrages me. Not necessarily bc of Severus Snape but because it is wrong! I'll bet Albus was in Slytherin and no one thought him evil.
I will say that as angry as I am with his character I don't know that many people could have handled his situation well. Apparently, his sister had done some accidental magic and some Muggles saw her -- when she couldn't teach them they exposed her to unmentionable displesures she was only 6. Her magic got a bit confused after that and it was she who killed her mom not meaning too.
Albus came home and met blondy -- a figure still shrouded in much mystory. We're left with the impression that both of them are rather upset over their less than pleasant parting. It says that they were inseparable. Shakes head.
I'm just so disatisfied with the end of this book that I'd like to chuck it out a window.
Ok well. My head hurts.
A friend saw Rowling on TV and says she was afraid for Rowlings sanity -- did I think maybe an entire generation of kids was going to grow up with screwy morals now and such a black-and-white picture of the world. Says Rowling looked unbalanced. ok must go work now.
