Sigh...it feels soooo good to be home!!!!
We left Montana this morning about 7:45 AM and started the long trek home. Today was the only day for travel...so we planned it all very well. There's a big storm heading for Montana and Idaho that will hit tonight and would have made traveling a nightmare!! It was somewhat stormy today, too, but mostly was rain and some light snow that didn't really stick to anything.
Anyway, we did pretty well considering poor D had to deal with the big truck and camper as well as hauling a trailer behind it and, in Idaho, it got really windy...I think he got 7.5 MPG, OUCH!!!! We stopped for an early dinner in order to avoid hitting Odgen right at 5:00...and we rolled into the driveway at about 7:45...so, 12 hours...a little longer than normal...usually it takes about 10 hours...but with the wind and the stop for dinner, it all makes sense.
The pups were beside themselves to be home...they knew they were home a few miles before we got to the house and got all excited...at home we let them out of the cars (Usko rides with Derek and Fancy rides with me) and they ran around together, then we opened up the door to the house and they sprinted in and around and just freaked out. We let them it their back yard and they sniffed around out there, then came in and played with some of their toys, then Usko crashed...splayed out on the couch (of course they're allowed on the furniture...sheesh!!) and promptly fell asleep. Fancy continued to survey her territory for a while...had to make sure no mice moved in while we were gone.
Derek's father, Jim, and his wife, Janice, stayed at our house for a couple of months while they're 5th wheel they've been living in for a year and a half was in for repairs...and they left all sorts of little gifts all over the house...it's been a delight to find little things here and there! So nice...
Anyway...we're sacked out...getting caught up on some news...tomorrow we'll unpack everything and winterize the camper...probably take it off of the truck the day after...a dear friend of mine is going to be in town and is going to stop by for a visit and we want to go over and see Doug and Lynne Seus and see Little Bart and how much he's grown.
But tonight...we're going to enjoy a big bed with clean sheets!!!! Yippee!!!!
