Non-eventful day…woke up…checked snares…nothing…oh…the strail-set snare at Spruce Creek was tripped…we were pretty excited about the possibility of having a bear there since one had visited yesterday…but there was nothing there…we got beat. But the bait was gone.

Coal Creek…nothing.

We met up with Tim so he could bring us some fresh non-maggot-infested bait…talked to him for a bit…right where we ended up meeting in the road was a pile of fish parts…so I hungrily gathered those up to use them as bait, too!!

Left Tim, went to Red Meadow to see if the female we collared had left the area, yet. She kind of had…she crossed the road and was up on a hill…but I still wasn’t comfy setting the snares…so we went in to the site and took down D’s camera setup…then we went to Spruce Creek and re-set the tripped snare and set up D’s camera there so we could see what was coming in on the site. We’ll re-set at Red Meadow once that female is out of the area.

We then went up a drainage called Hay Creek to see if there were any places to set a new snare…after about an hour we found a place amid many ripped apart stumps…which is bear sign…so we set a snare in there. We’re out of “Danger: Bear snare in area” signs…so we can’t set anymore snares…gotta tell Tim so he can get us more. It started raining heavily while we were setting that snare…so at the end of it, we were kinda cold and wet and the dogs seemed pretty tired of being in a truck…it was 3:45, no time left to scout and set another snare…so we called it a day.

Now it’s 4:30…I’m gonna go take a warm bath and have a nice dinner and evening with my hubby and hopefully wake up to a bear in a snare somewhere nearby!!!

This is a picture of a cow moose that was in the pond at the Palace...her profile:

This is her head on...kinda looks like a drowned rat don't she?
