The Good-Bye

Trey & I held and petted Bear for a few minutes before we let the vet put him to rest. Being there while he passed on was very peaceful and comforting. I can’t believe I ever considered otherwise.

While the guilt is slowly subsiding, I miss him so much that it physically hurts.

Last night, I invited some friends over for a little party in his memory. Trey, Chris B., Conchita, Scott, Chris J., Sara, Emily, Lonnie, and Dan helped me give Bear a proper sending off. I set up a little shrine to Bear, and we ate, and drank, and laughed until we hurt, and listened to cheesy tunes like:
Fly to the Angels - Slaughter
(I Don’t Wanna Be Buried in a) Pet Cemetary - The Ramones
Dust in the Wind - Kansas
Runnin With the Devil - Van Halen
Another One Bites the Dust - Queen

As promised, we put the “Fun” in Funeral. The people in attendance have no idea how much this helped me. If you’re listening, Thank You.
