OH MAN as usual this is totally awesome. I told myself I would just glance over it because I need to work on my own shit before work, and, and, I READ IT ALL.

Your Daryan is so amazing and complex and flawed and the way you described what happened without really describing it - fabulous. I always look forward to reading your stuff.

Oh wow, thank you! I'm so glad I can make Daryan work for you; I know I have a lot more sympathy for him than you do, but I've no interest in whitewashing him, and I'm glad he still comes across as difficult and flawed. And *flails* I am so thrilled you said that about describing without really describing, honestly - I was really dithering about whether this framing device would even work or if I should just write this as a straightforward narrative, and you saying this makes me very happy indeed. Thank you ♥

It's not that I find Daryan totally unsympathetic. I could, at times, write him a lot nicer than I did for the So Klingt Liebe arc (which still has one more story in it...someday), if I felt it suited the characters. I know I've totally come off as hating his guts, and I do hate how he is in the stories I wrote, but it's not the only interpretation of him I have - just like that interpretation of Machi isn't the only one I have (clearly epicfic Machi isn't the same as the one in my Wocky/Machi fics). He serves as a villain and a catalyst, and in a way, I guess I felt the need to put that interpretation out there with the other, slightly more positive ones. The great thing about fanfiction is playing with your concepts of the characters, and how much room, particularly in AA, that you have to do that.

I think the way you chose to frame this was incredibly effective, reminiscent of how scattered the events themselves must've been for Daryan. I really love how you write his voice. Keep up the good work, etc.!

I think it's important to have that interpretation out there, absolutely. It definitely has its roots in what you see of him in canon; that's one of the best and most uncomfortable things about your Daryan, I think.

There is a lot of room to play in AA, isn't there? I love it, myself. But it can make for strange fic reading - I have, I think, a very specific understanding of Klavier in my head (which So Klingt Liebe's Klavier totally pings for me, as if I haven't raved about him enough ^_^), and yet he can be taken so many different ways (if you'll, er, pardon the expression) that sometimes I read fic with him in and I don't recognise him - even though it's the same core character as the starting point.

And YAY more Wocky/Machi! I saw that on my flist when you posted it and it was immediately added to my List of Things to Read When I'm Not in a World of Stress - am looking forward to sitting down with it. I love the way you write Machi; you've totally managed to make him come alive for me.
