Supernatural Themed Tote Bags

Hey guys!

last minute crafting struck again!

yesterday i went to ConVersion 25 with caras_galadhon to check things out, and of course, we needed a fannish schtick, so friday night i had this brilliant idea for matching tote bags... SPN style!!!

so i hit up my store and grabbed a few supplies, and these were the results!

caras_galadhon is the dean!girl, so i chose a wallpaper that was more dean!centric from here, specifically this one

she loved it and she decorated her bag with a ton of pins and badges, so the finished product looks like this,

you know, i had some pretty high hopes for my tote bag since my image printed out so nicely on the transfer sheet. (i picked a sam!centric wallpaper, namely this one from here cause omg! sammy :P )

but no. it couldn't be that easy.

i'm fairly certain that the transfer sheets were of poor quality to start with, and the instructions were sorely lacking and they certainly didn't agree with the type of fabric texture my tote was, cause trying to pull away the backer paper was next to impossible without destroying the transfer, and the transfer had to be completely cool before you could even begin to peel away the paper. (i used some frozen food products to rub against the back to make the transfer loosen). nowhere on the instruction sheets does it explain that. in the end, i managed to salvage *most* of my transfers. luckily, i had some supplies to cover up any bad areas.

on this side, i quickly put ratty stitching around the transfer and stitched an 'S' that i had cut out of some 16ct aida and stitched a little badge, and quick-sewed that on as well. i went for deconstructive/reconstructive cool, and i love the results.

this was the side that had the most damage, lucky for me, where i was using a pillow case to press the transfer and it stuck, when i pulled it away it left me with a grunge-esque texture on the image that i think adds quite a bit of flair to the overall look.

i was desperate for fabric that night, so i nabbed a bandanna i had leftover from stampede and chopped a 'W' and a heart out of it and stitched those on to keep with the theme of the bag.

overall, it turned out to be way more stylish than i had given it credit for. :D

not bad for some last-minute crafting eh?
